I’m leaving a short term placement tomorrow and I very stupidly asked DH to go and buy cookies for my colleagues. I can’t go out now as I’ve taken my contacts out and can’t find my glasses. Can’t walk to shops have to drive. The other cookies are fine but the ones I wanted to give the IT guys for helping me with my password etc. have £1.25 on them! It’s just a pack of cookies. I know they don’t expect anything but is it embarrassing for me to give these or should I not worry so much? Apologies it’s my last day and I feel anxious plus I’ve had a crap week so overthinking everything.

@mfhtoeh Thank you. I will bake those cookies but not for the IT guys. They look lovely!

I work in IT. Not in customer facing role any more but when I did people rarely if ever said thank you for me doing anything. So while the cookies might not be the greatest the IT team will appreciate the thought and your thanks. Don't stress about it.

I would class those as biscuits even if they call themselves cookies. They taste nice though. Good for dunking.

Our IT team would be absolutely chuffed with Maryland cookies. We’re NHS so don’t really get gifts for non patient facing roles.

In the package I feel it may look cheap but in a plate with clingfilm over I think nobody would see anything beyond oooh cookies yum

It’s a gesture so I don’t think it matters if they’re expensive or not. I’m sure they will be appreciated!

If you want a job doing properly, best do it yourself.

Lesson learned - don't send DH.

I think it is fine. It's the thought that counts. If you are embarrassed about it tell them the story and laugh along with them.

I think this is a great idea Grin. I am sure the IT department will really appreciate any snacks that come their way (I work in an IT related profession) - they are used to dealing with problems all day and will enjoy a snack and some light hearted banter about the choice of said cookies!
