Dd, 5, report stated this…any teachers here (or anyone else) that can read through this teacher speak 😂
Is this a positive or negative thing?

Temporaryname158 · 19/07/2023 21:38

They are a PITA

thistimelastweek · 19/07/2023 21:42

Could mean loads.

OP, have you honestly no idea? Not even a clue?

TarquinOliverNimrod · 19/07/2023 21:43

AKA irritating 😂

Badger1970 · 19/07/2023 21:44

I wouldn't take it as a compliment, put it that way.

5128gap · 19/07/2023 21:44

My DS used to get this. He was loud, naturally confident, the class clown and marmite as far as the teachers were concerned. Some found him funny and engaging others thought he was disruptive and a show off.

namechanger563 · 19/07/2023 21:44

I'd read that as chatty and distinctive. Don't most 4/5 yr olds blend in to each a bit? Yours obviously stands out as an individual. I'd be happy with that comment.

CattyCattle · 19/07/2023 21:45

Sorry OP, not a compliment. It means they answer back all the time.

RoyKentFanclub · 19/07/2023 21:45

Your child is a right handful

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/07/2023 21:46

Yep, they're a PITA. Probably disruptive. It's definitely not a compliment.

Overlycautiousbynature · 19/07/2023 21:46

It means the teacher can't meet your child's needs and finds them challenging and won't miss them when they move up to their new class in September.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/07/2023 21:47

I'm a retired teacher and I'd say it was a compliment.

Lamelie · 19/07/2023 21:48

Mine were all described thus. You need a lot of resources- time and energy mainly to channel it. They’re all in their 20s now and successful. Hang on in there!

Royalsingingseal · 19/07/2023 21:50

Yep. They take time away from the class group. Not a compliment

Faradalla · 19/07/2023 21:51

I'm a Year 1 teacher and would mean that as a compliment.

calmcoco · 19/07/2023 21:53

The teacher prefers boring kids, they are probably boring themselves?

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/07/2023 21:55

So there are two replies from teachers saying they would use it as a compliment but people are still insisting the child is a PITA. I always enjoyed working with children who would speak up and have something interesting to say.

Wanttogetoffthehamsterwheel · 19/07/2023 21:59

Wow, a bit worrying tbh

OP posts:
BodegaSushi · 19/07/2023 21:59

Oh wow ignore the negativity. Any child I describe with a personality is full of life and fun. And not a boring lump.

WhatADrabCarpet · 19/07/2023 21:59

Not a compliment.
You need to ask.

Wanttogetoffthehamsterwheel · 19/07/2023 22:00

@WhatADrabCarpet Will it look a bit weird to ask the teacher to clarify what she means by it?

Please don't read too deeply into it. Ignore the PPs whose sole aim in life is to kick an OP, your child will be lovely. How did the rest of the report sound?

Toprepandhowmuch · 19/07/2023 22:02

I think it’s a compliment: a child with lots to say and confident.

Wanttogetoffthehamsterwheel · 19/07/2023 22:03

She also says she has great relationships with children and adults in the class/school, shares, is kind etc, a happy child
She does say she gets embarrassed and frustrated if told off and cries and needs to be calmer

WhatADrabCarpet · 19/07/2023 22:03

Not at all but be prepared for answers that you might not be expecting.

Speaking as a teacher, it sounds like your daughter's teacher is very fond of her. Personally, I love children with big personalities and unique characters.
