To think this problem is too common with hairdressers?!

I'm angry at hairdressers today (sorry to group you all together, lighthearted! Grin)

But honestly, I went to the hairdresser yesterday and asked for about 4 inches off and they've took about 8. I'd make clear that I didn't want it too short either (as it was waist length) and it's at my collarbone.

It just frustrates me that it's not the first time it's happened to me and I bet a lot of others have a similar story. I feel like some hairdressers just don't listen at all when it comes to length.

  1. AIBU to be angry about this and be close to swearing off hairdressers? (Lighthearted - ish)
  2. AIBU to be as upset as I am about this? (This isn't lighthearted, I'm genuinely upset at how much has been taken off and can't even look in the mirror and it's just making me feel so down knowing there's nothing to be able to fix it other than wait years for it to grow back)

and
3) anyone else got a bad haircut story to share to lighten my mood today? Blush

@RyvitaVonCheese I have an undercut and it took me a while to find a hairdresser who was willing to just get the clippers out without a gasp of horror at doing more than a sensible little trim on an old bird like me 🤣

Chiming in with sympathy here. Last summer I had my very long hair cut to just below my shoulders.. fine, my choice.
Went last week and said, 'I'd like it a little shorter, long side fringe''

Guess who has a chin (if that) lego head bob now?!
It's awful.
Really awful.
I need it to be winter so I can live in a beanie hat until I have more than a few inches of hair!

But..it will grow again, and quite possibly I'll never enter a hairdressers again!

I normally end up tipping just because I am grateful that no big blunders were made that day. I have asked for one length blunt cut & received layer all round which doesn’t work with my long straight hair. Asked to stop & had to then cut out the layer so much shorter hair. I asked for Jennifer Anniston style meaning her long hair and suddenly saw half the length cut off, ended up with her famous shorter hair style and took 18 months to grow out. Dye matching light brown colour which was almost black & took about 18 months to not be noticeable. Not sure why it goes wrong so often, I have tried quite a few different ones. Probably best to try & stick to a good one but then they just get more & more expensive.

They couldn't get it straight and kept re aligning?. Especially if your hair is thick. I had a jaw length bob cut and hated it..wore it tied up for the next 3 months and condition and cut looked fab 2 months later! But deffo get a new hairdresser and/or do assertive 'check ins' on length throughout

Turns out I'm not good at estimating in inches Grin
But yes, was at my waist, asked for it just under my boobs and it's just below my collarbone

So are most blokes 🍆🤣
