To think I might be being tracked?

Anyone know anything about air tags? Just had some strange messages come up on my phone and now the AirTag doesn't exist on my 'find my' app.

Hoping someone in the know can put my mind at rest.....

Why would someone want to track you? Have you looked to see if you can find it?

I remember a thread a while ago, I can't remember all the details but the posters daughter was worried about something similar. Does anyone else remember that one and what the outcome was

Where are you when you got that notification? Could it be your next door neighbours? Just disable it if you're worried.

My husband has an AirTag in his work bag- he is notorious for leaving it in places, so it helps him track it down!

If we are walking together/ in the car and he has is bag, I will get a notification saying an AirTag is tracking me. I think if one is in your Bluetooth zone for a certain amount of time, it lets you know. Stops people placing them in your car/ bag/ coat pockets without you realising.

So you got the notification but it's disappeared?

Did you play the sound? It's supposed to help you find the item.

I'm surprised the PPs haven't heard of it and are dismissive.

I thought it was well known abusive behaviour.

If an unknown AirTag moves with you, without the person it's registered to, for I think it's 8 hours, you'll get this notification. I'd be searching the car, bags, coats etc.

My husband did this to me and placed an air rag somewhere it couldn’t be seen in my car!
yes it flagged up on my iPhone, he was tracking me!

It's been parked for 5 days on a holiday park. I was recently advised by police to be careful as cars the same as mine are being stolen left right and centre. So I'm concerned a thief has placed a tracker on my car. But I am now 3 hours away from said holiday park. Guess it depends how far they'd be willing to travel to take it.

I've had a quick scan of the wheel arches. Could it have picked up someone else's AirTag? We were in slow moving traffic for a while

You say it “was” showing on find me?
do you own an air tag ?
if they disassociate with the phone, they then send messages to any iphone that its near for a long time suggesting tracking.

If its not your airtag, then someone may have placed one in your belongings

Can you not just click the option on your screenshot to make the airtag make a noise so you can find it?

It won’t be on your car if it’s been parked for 5 days. It will be on your person or in your bag. No, it wouldn’t pick up someone else unless you was in range of that person for many hours.

Have you been stationary at a holiday park? I went on a school trip (I’m a teacher) and this came up for me because some of the students had them and we had been in the same vicinity for a while.

The car has remained stationary but in a large car park. I tried to play the sound but it wouldn't connect. I clicked back and then it disappeared so I didn't get a chance to disable it.

Wouldn't it be it easier for thieves to steal an unattended car from a car park rather than your home that could be 100s of miles away?

DH has one on his keys as he keeps losing them. It's registered to me though as I bought it and put it on my iPad. I just asked him and he said he's never had any messages saying he's being tracked.

Very much hope that's a typo and you really meant to write "my ex-husband."
