Ridiculously petty things that you can’t even say out loud

I’ll start.

This has been bugging me all day but I can’t say it out loud to anyone as it’s really not that bigger deal.

Parking is a huge issue where I live, not many people have ORP.

My elderly neighbour got rid of her car a few years ago, we are quite close and she has a driveway, so it was agreed that I could now park over her driveway meaning I am pretty much guaranteed a space right outside my house, rather than having to park halfway down the street.

My lodger has now begun using this space, she works from home a lot too so it’s there for days now sometimes. WAAAaa 🙈🙈.

I can say anything as I will sound like a selfish loon.

Going to the supermarket doesn't need to be a family outing.

Oh God, this!! Some families treat food shopping like a fecking family outing!!!!!

Almahart · 14/07/2023 20:55

My ex husband used to occasionally whistle on the tube in rush hour. EX husband. Hard to imagine more irritating behaviour.

One for pedant's corner:
You don't suffer from mental health. You suffer from mental ill-health.

My friend keeps sending me pouty pictures with no context - just captions them with words such as ‘today’ or ‘work’ etc. It’s really annoying me and I’ve had to start ignoring them because when I open them I want to punch her, though it feels unkind to not acknowledge.

CC4712 · 14/07/2023 20:58

Stop spitting on the pavement, or anywhere at all! 😝

'Oh no, what happened 'friend'? Did someone punch you in the face to get that awful, fat lip???' 😂

And totally missed the point of the thread 🙈

I get the pint of the thread but you shouldn't park over a dropped kerb, even your own, and get a ticket for it if reported as it prevents disabled access to the pavement.

The way my friend pokes her tongue slightly between her teeth for every single photo.
For some unknown reason it Winds. Me. Up!!!
And everyone else who does it too!!

Laura Whitmore does it! I wondered if there is a photogenic reason for it, whether it makes your jawline sharper or something? I'm constantly examining her photos on Instagram to check she's doing it.

hookiewookie29 · 14/07/2023 19:13

Oh my God, same here! Absolutely no idea why it irritates me so much, but it does! It's up there with people who stop right in shop doorways to put their purse away....

…or stop at the top of the escalator in a store as they look around for where the lingerie is (eg) meanwhile I’m like a hamster on a wheel behind you! Just move!!!!

Ourshoddyhouse · 14/07/2023 21:05

To my colleague; stop saying "my bad".

It's your error or your mistake, you annoying git.

Lacucuracha · 14/07/2023 19:14

Then you need to stand. You can’t inconvenience other travellers.

That’s just plain bonkers.

Beseen22 · 14/07/2023 21:06

I have a huge fluffy rug in my lounge and everytime a friend comes over with her child (around 8) she puts her feet between the rug and the carpet and makes the edges all scruffy. Her mum just watches her do it. I'm well aware it's not a big deal but it infuriates me.

Every nightshift I have to count certain boxes of medicines with a colleague and watching other people count slowly makes me scream inside. I save less than 5 minutes with my approach but I cannot stand it.

Clymene · 14/07/2023 21:12

Bollocks @MonumentalLentil. Drooped kerbs to access driveways aren't designed for disabled access. Parked over dropped kerbs on street corners is wrong. There is no law against parking in front of a drive.

By law you or your visitors are entitled to park on the carriageway in front of your dropped kerb (driveway) so long as no other parking controls are in place, you do not cause an obstruction, and the dropped kerb is not shared with another property.

CC4712 · 14/07/2023 21:14

I don't come to your house anymore- because you allow your dogs to lick between your toes in full view of us all!

PauliesWalnuts · 14/07/2023 21:16

You’re the CEO, so you work for the Board, not the other way around.

Oh my god, my stepson does this. He's 19 so more than old enough to know why he shouldn't. I'll tell him to stop if I'm in the room, but sometimes I'll come in and it's turned up at the corner where he sits. We've tripped over it several times, when it's perfectly flat when people just leave it the hell alone!

RicherThanYews · 14/07/2023 21:17

Listen knobhead, if I start singing quietly under my breath to myself it is a stress response because I'm autistic, I am not inviting you to a fucking sing-off, you're pitchy, tuneless and LOUD.

  • parking in a car park when it is closed
  • re-parking in the same parking bay within an hour of leaving
  • parking adjacent to a dropped kerb
  • parking more than 50 cm from the edge of the carriageway if not in a designated parking space
Clymene · 14/07/2023 21:27

What exactly is the point of a dropped kerb that provides vehicular access to a property to a person in a wheelchair @MonumentalLentil? If there's no matching dropped kerb on the other side of the road (there isn't opposite mine) do you want to just to be able to wheel yourself into the carriageway?

Why?

Octomingo · 14/07/2023 21:34

Close the cupboard doors. Ffs.

Yogity · 14/07/2023 21:36

People always walk on the edges of my front lawn instead of the extremely wide pavement directly in front of it and I rage inside every time. The terms of the management co of the development mean we can't put up a fence or railings.

We have two spaces in a shared car park but we only have 1 car. Neighbour with 3 cars uses our second spot without ever having asked and I hate it but seems petty since we have no use for it.

Colleague frequently asks me to cover workload when they go on holiday/leave and upon returning is slow to take back their workload so I have an extra day or two doing double workload. I know they are clearing emails etc so feels unreasonable to say anything but irks me when I wouldn't have someone else cover my work for a moment longer than necessary.

Madamecholetsbonnet · 14/07/2023 21:39

TeenLifeMum · 14/07/2023 19:49

@Madamecholetsbonnet you put bags bigger than the over head space in the larger luggage space where suitcases go or day your feet in a normal seat, under the table needs space for the legs of other passengers.

And when the larger luggage space is full? As it often is on trains passing through Gatwick?

I know you tell me ridiculous lies. I let you think I believe you. That's why I question you a fair bit. To watch you tie those knots tighter 😝😂

@Eudaimonia5 We had him too, he was threatened with death by us all & told under no circumstances should he ever ask any questions on a Friday afternoon as we wanted to go home early.
