Would you be offended? Clothes shop

Today, I saw a sustainable design er clothes shop. It caught my attention so I went in for a look.

I was rifling through some dresses. Out of my budget, but was just curious.

One of the shop assistants then redirects me to some clothes 'more my size'. I didn't ask for advice or give any signal that I needed help, I was simply looking around different bits.

I'm not quite sure what to make of that come t. To me it's a bit condescending to think you know better than I do about my own clothes size. It's also not nice to hear when your actively trying to make changes to your body and somebody essentially points out that nope- you haven't made any progress.

Anyway, just wondering what others make of this? Would you be offended if someone showed you where 'your size' without you asking?

I was correctly told I was a size 12 by male shop worker years ago, couldn’t have cared less as I was ok with being that size, more impressed with his ability to know my size and I was probably wearing jeans and a jumper at the time.
I guess in your case op, it depends how you feel about your body and the tone used, whether you find it offensive or not.

Definitely rude. No need to word it like that at all. A simple "Can I help?" or "Have you been able to find the size you are looking for?" would have sufficed.

"Let me show you where clothes in your size are" is a bitchy way of saying "I think you are too big for the items you are looking at," dressed up in fake politeness.

Yes I would be insulted - you could have been shopping for someone else.
A sales assistant looked at my size 20 frame with disdain - I was shopping for my size 6/8 daughter. I left the store and went next door - and wrote her head office an email.

I once went to the counter of a small independent lingerie shop with a couple of pairs of pants in size L (large) that I'd lifted from the rail. I'm a dress size 14. The assistant looked me up and down in a sneery way and said, 'We do have these in a size XL, you know'. More fool me, I paid for the size L ones and left without saying anything. But I've never been back to that shop.

As a pp mentioned she was buying for her slimmer daughter, same thing happened to me.
Buying a size 10 in the 90's for my daughter the shop assistant asked in a sneery voice "would you like to try it on before buying".
I was a size 22 at the time. I was a little rude when I replied that it obviously wasn't for me.
Horrible woman.

'Big mistake'
'Huge mistake'

This already has a lot of replies already but she was trying to help. It's not in their criteria to be intentionally condescending. How could she have known you were just browsing

No, she couldn't have known and that's why she shouldn't have assumed. It's common sense. But I guess not everyone has that.
