To ask how much did you ‘try’ to conceive

Having decided we want to have a baby and after six months or so of not much happening, I’ve decided to take action and started tracking my cycles properly, using OPKs and temping.

Although DH is on board with this he seems pretty surprised how planned/unromantic it all is. I’ve since spent a bit of time educating him on how womens cycles work and how small the fertile window actually is and it feels like the idea of spontaneously dtd and then getting pregnant is quite far from reality! Just logistically since we started cycle tracking it’s required a bit of planning to make sure we’re in the same place at the right time. It’s got us wondering for how many couples does it just happen, and for how many does ttc require a bit more planning?

I put a lot of pressure on with the sticks, counting days and planning in month 1 and 2. DH said to DTD every other day and forget about the other stuff (apart from tracking periods for dating) fell the next month.
Once DC1 was on the scene it was harder to find as much time, we DTD when we could fit it in. At least a few times a month, fell in two months.
I really feel for those that struggle to conceive. Don’t hang around if it’s not working out, get support from your GP. Good luck OP

To be honest, we didn't try to conceive. We discussed starting a family, so I just stopped taking contraception and carried on having sex as normal.
I fell pregnant within a couple of months each time.

Mine were all happy accidents, never actually tried to get pregnant but also wasn't particularly careful with contraception. With my fourth we had been really careful with contraception and I still managed to fall pregnant.
