I need your help with sneaky DH

Took rings off last night left on side of the kitchen sink.
Came down from work and engagement ring has disappeared....mild panic.

Sneaky DH has hidden the ring. I've feigned disinterest but the stakes are high - we now have a game and I have all morning to find it.

All I've been told is it's somewhere in the kitchen. I've had most of the cupboards out and looked in all the glasses etc.

We have young DC so it's nowhere they would be able to find it.

All very petty and I was on the verge of texting for a clue....

I just can't get over his smug face coming and showing me where it was. It will be somewhere obvious I know it.

AIBU to ask for any suggestions? Please help - I need a win today

Think of all the hidden places and ignore them I would say so obvious so think in a very public open space

SniggleSnarf · 06/07/2023 10:55

Carbon monoxide - no
Calpol was a great guess - no
Kitchen sink plug is one of those grate ones so no unless he wanted it washed away.

Yes it is a huge waste of time. I could be getting on with housework, twiddling my thumbs etc. Very boring to some people - but then my life is quite boring! I feel like a pig snuffling out a truffle.

look on the necks of any wine bottles! Please, just to appease me!

bettytaghetti · 06/07/2023 10:57

Box of (safety) matches?

JustMint · 06/07/2023 10:58

Have you opened the smoke detector up and checked inside it?

Window locks?

Fire blanket?

Highchair?

Baby gate if you have on entering the kitchen?

Blinkblank · 06/07/2023 10:58

Tidsleytiddy · 06/07/2023 10:51

Well I’m certainly superior to this rubbish

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

SniggleSnarf · 06/07/2023 10:58

Sorry I did say he was smug but only because he always loses this sort of game. He's quite nice sometimes to me. Sets up scavenger hunts that sort of thing!

Nothing on any door, door keys, no to the first aid box, no to the biscuit tin had to eat a few to get to the bottom.

Safety pins was a great shout. But already checked HIS sewing box and nothing.

Gonna take a short break for a sit down and cup of tea.

Do you have a fire extinguisher or a fire blanket?

Ahhhhhbisto · 06/07/2023 10:59

On the window key?

StellaJohanna · 06/07/2023 10:59

What an actual waste of life this is. Absolutely pathetic.

Ahhhhhbisto · 06/07/2023 10:59

I really want you to win Grin

Tidsleytiddy · 06/07/2023 10:59

^ This. See? Not just me

Daffodilsandtuplips · 06/07/2023 11:00

I found a ring in a bowl of sugar, my aunt had dementia and hid stuff. It was fun finding knickers in the oven or stuffed down the backs of radiators.

Right, back to the search..
Washing powder. Washing machine detergent drawer?
Under the sink in the box of dishwasher tabs. Under the sink full stop.
Sugar, Tea, Coffee, Flour, rice … any dry goods. Cereals!
Frozen in an ice cube.
Inside an opened bag of frozen chips.
Got any plants or vases of flowers in the kitchen?
Pans, cups, bowls, mixing bowls.
The drawer of doom, odds and sods, crap drawer.
Im making no comment apart from plan your revenge for the future. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Why is it being smug to use DH? A lot of people on here use that acronym

Ha ha, totally misunderstood this post

BreviloquentBastard · 06/07/2023 11:00

My husband is great at stuff like this, every birthday I do a treasure hunt for him with clues to follow and he always cracks it in minutes, apparently I'm just rubbish at coming up with cryptic clues 😂

I've asked him where he'd look with that clue. All I can think is in a first aid kit or something, which has already been suggested. What a git your husband is!

DCINightingale · 06/07/2023 11:01

Not read all the suggestions but inside the mitt of oven gloves?

Greenfree · 06/07/2023 11:02

Does your extractor fan have removable vents? Could it be inside an oven glove? I really want you to win OP

Humidititties · 06/07/2023 11:03

To all those people who have posted negatively, why don't you all just fuck off and post on another thread if this one bothers you so much.

I'm amazed how a light hearted thread can warrant so much nastiness, misery and knobheadness

Oooo good idea!

Tomorrow, hide your husband's toupé before he goes to work. That'll really send out a message.

If he doesn't have a toupé, hide his corset or his sports bra. Or hide all his shoes overnight. Or hide all his clothes, so he has to choose between either going to work in the buff or going to work wearing your clothes.

Whatever, the guy needs to get the point.

Yes!!

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 06/07/2023 11:05

First aid box

balanced on top of fire alarm or fire blanket

wedged in keyhole

near the bit on radiator where you use the key thing to bleed it.

in the oven gloves?

SoupDragon · 06/07/2023 11:05

Do the magnetic childlocks need something like a magnetic "key" to open them?

LadyRoughDiamond · 06/07/2023 11:05

Is there a job that he always does, that he makes a big deal of, eg taking the bins out? It will be in something to do with that, just so he can say ‘I knew you’d never find it with the bin liners, you wouldn’t know where they are!’

I may be projecting here.

Hiding lol his clothes may prove difficult!
