Do you lie on the internet?

I often see the phrase "everyone lies on Mumsnet / the internet", but personally I don't! I might alter the odd tiny detail (to make something easier to explain or less likely to be outing), but nothing that changes the sense of what I'm saying.

Of course I know there are trolls, but AIBU to think most posters are genuine?

The only thing I lie about is my name - I have a abusive ex who is still tracking me after 15 years, so it's a security thing for me. I keep my real name off the internet.

Only someone who lies would look at it that way
