Sycamoretree, how can you listen to Jeremy Vine? It's just full of people with bizarre opinions who won't listen to any one else's view. Not like MN at all.

WallOfSilence · 23/02/2008 23:26

Isn't Jeremy vine full of people who do nothing all day but laze about in tracksuits?

hunkermunker · 23/02/2008 23:27

(ST, I'm not sure anyone's fully on my wavelength - it's quite lonely here...!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, there'd be...

And if one green bottle accidentally fell

I slag off my boss all the time. I rather like him though. Why is slagging off parents a problem - they;re paid to be nice to the children not the parents.

You see obviously the problme is that I'm an accountant, I;m used to people being horrid to me - I think its the natural order of things... (or am I just really a cow "

Kewcumber · 23/02/2008 23:27

oh bugger no - thats not right, missed a crucaial one about pensions and borstal...

Sycamoretree · 23/02/2008 23:28

Right, I'm off to bed. See what you can do about getting this one to over 1000 by the time I get up to face yet another bloody day on my lighterlife diet tomorrow.

I'm drowning in powdered food, I would kill you all for even one dairylea dunker.

Kewcumber · 23/02/2008 23:30

me too (off tobed that is...

and of course the irony is that DS does have a social worker. And I have been offically certified as being a just about adequate parent so yah boo sucks to you!

Kewcumber · 23/02/2008 23:31

pmsl TotalChaos - I love MN at its most surreal!

Sycamoretree · 23/02/2008 23:31

Mrs High and Wall - I have honestly NEVER listened to him in my life before, but was driving to my parents house (feeling very sad cos my dad is proper poorly) and couldn't listen to any songs for fear of boo hooing, so happened across this programme, and I thought "this'll be hilarious, I bet I hear some corking ridiculous things said here". But actually, it was all a bit tame. It was a lame offering up to try and avoid another World War starting up on this thread. Please don't hate on me - I never did hear of the vine, or even really radio 2 until two days ago. I'm too old for Radio 1 now, and XFM runs out half way between junction 6 and 7 on the M4.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 24/02/2008 11:06

Kew you are funny

I wish I had read the thread while it was around, has it been pulled or just full?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 24/02/2008 11:07

Dammit, can anyone give me the gist?

georgiemama · 24/02/2008 11:13

Chelsygirl, DS is having a nap, so is it ok with you if I post? Cos obviously God forbid anyone should post whilst looking after their child, like a lot of CMs seem to do during the week.

It was the usual SAHM v WOHM argument masquerading as a "concern" from a CM that her mindees parents sometimes finished work early and God forbid, didn't rush round to collect mindee immediately but sometimes, like, shock horror, did other stuff and picked up at usual time. It got progressively more judgmental and snippy from there basically.

Am off to see if there are any other threads of interest to read, while DS is still asleep. Obviously once he wakes will commmence French vocab/clarinet practice/poetry recital or other worthy activity suitable for 12 month old.

alfiesbabe · 24/02/2008 11:21

OMG, right I'm going to summarise for you Bumperlicious......
CM doesnt understand why parents might go shopping/have hair done etc before picking kids up.... WOHMS explain why it may be a good idea to get a few jobs done while dcs still at CM/Nursery..... CM still doesnt understand why, despite numerous extensive explanation, though why the fuck if matters anyway because the CM is still getting paid and it's none of her effing business.... the whole thing turns into a frightful SAHM/WOHM bunfight....WOHM are of course evil people (even though there is no evidence to show this) ..... SAHMs get really uppity and start telling us they're such good parents that they don't even really want their DH's to get a look-in..... childcare providers eventually shoot themselves in the foot by telling us that actually CMs and nurseries are shite anyway so WTF are we doing leaving our kids there.... WOHM wonder WTF childcare providers do the job anyway if they're so shite at it, and how come they're such amazing parents themselves if they can't look after other peoples kids properly.... Alfiesbabe, Lulumama et al all get bored and piss off to the pub.

There we go - don't think I missed anything but I'm sure I'll stand corrected if I did!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 24/02/2008 11:22

"or other worthy activity suitable for 12 month old" such as fumigating the house, having your corns seen to and all other educational activities which are really just missed opportunities otherwise.

Lulumama · 24/02/2008 11:24

i got up early especially to post on the CM thread, but it was full,so you know,,..

kew, you are subtle, i had always noticed that about you!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 24/02/2008 11:25

Good summary from Alfiesbabe but she forgot to add some secret codes WOHMs use with each other, such as and
