To be fed up with men trying to have conversations with me in jacuzzi?

I'm rather an introvert and I have worsened since my menopause started.

The jacuzzi etc improves my mental health, I zone out a bit and try to relax.

I wear earphones and enjoy listening to music and true crime podcasts for ideas. I also think it ought to give off a very big Do Not Disturb message. But nope, at least once a session a man tries to talk to me about nothing important or gestures for me to remove the earbuds.

I just look apologetic and point to my ears and try to ignore.

Some will perservere. One even, after I did take them out, tell me I was being unsociable.

It's never been a woman. They'll just smile nicely, and get on with their own time.

The situation saddens me greatly and spoils the down time somewhat.

A friend thinks differently and says they only want to small talk with you. So I really don't know if I'm being unreasonable, hence AIBU posting.

YABU - you shouldn't mind, they're only being pleasant.

YANBU - they should take the cues an leave you in peace.

Yanbu
Men seem to lack the ability to read the ducking room. If a woman looks engrossed in something and is ignoring you. Stay away. If she's give you some sort of signal or hint that she would be interested in talking or she actually talks to you then sure say hello. But read the room! Especially in this situation. If your earphones are in and you haven't even so much as looked their way, back off!

Or if they must they can say hello and if she isn't interested move on with your day.

YANBU. Men feel they own the space. Also sick of the manspreading and chucking essential oils about. Particularly angry that they don't understand that a man talking to a lone woman can often make us feel threatened...because of male behaviour generally. No this is not the fault of individual men but they should have the empathy to understand our fears. Obviously if you point this out, the man will have a lovely time feeling hurt. Because it's all about them...rather than how women might feel...

Are there no women only sessions/times you can benefit from? Could you ask for them, noting that women of certain faiths would not use the facility in the presence of men?

If they tell you to smile use your middle fingers to pull the sides of your mouth into a smile.

That made me LOL. 🤣

A LOT of replies thank you, and mostly agreeing with me. 💐

I don't mind the Bottom Soup aspect of the jacuzzi - the staff are very conscientious and they check the water levels frequently.

I've been a couple of times and occasionally one is covered, so I guess they're addressing any issues that need it.

That article by the Fucknugget is jaw dropping as is the massive column inches he's added to justify his words. What a tit.

Love the idea of bleating on about periods! I feel like heading to the nearest leisure centre just to try it (and I don't even get periods). If they dare stay in the tub with me after that I'll repeatedly look down and check the water around me as though I'm worried about leaking.

Yes love it! Please report back on effectiveness 😂
