Please share the brand/style AND ALSO describe what shape feet you have.

My mum swears by Hotter but she has small chunky feet, whereas mine are long and almost completely flat, so I suspect any style that works for her would give me blisters.

Mine are a size 6.5/7 and flat.

My go-to styles are:

Havaiana flip flops
Superga canvas shoes
Asics Windhawks for running (supposedly not proper running trainers as they don't have much arch support but the only style that has never given me blisters on the instep)
For smart occasions where I want to wear heels, I have found Phase Eight ones pretty comfortable.

I like ariat loafers but I have small quite wide feet. I bought a size 3 and they are really comfy.

I also like the fairfax and favor trainers and next forever comfort

Boots - ariat or dubarry and wellies - le Chameu neoprene. Bought a size 4 in these tho as they are quite neat.

continentallentil · 25/06/2023 09:09

Fit flop are good., lots of styles

SpainToday · 25/06/2023 09:09

Dare I mention Skechers?

MargotBamborough · 25/06/2023 09:12

Yes but what size and shape feet do you all have??

What works for you may not work for others.

My most comfortable footwear is much maligned by mumsnet - Skechers, Rieker and Pavers. These are all brands designed with comfort rather than looks in mind.

However, my Nike and Adidas trainers are also very comfortable.

I have normal width size 6 flat feet with narrow heels and osteoarthritis in one foot and most loafers are like flip flops on me.

HappyCatty · 25/06/2023 09:35

I'm with your mum and Hotter shoes. However, I have size 7, thin, flat, flipper feet and they fit well. I quite often go for their slim fit if it's available but their standard is usually fine. I have quite a few pairs, Mary Jane's, sandals, lace up black work shoe and Chelsea boots off the top of my head. All lovely and comfy!

Marezydotes · 25/06/2023 09:41

I also have long, flattish feet (and I'm an 8 1/2)

I have multiple pairs of Nike Air Max, from all-white, to black, jolly colours etc.

Sandals-wise I like Tevas, both the originals and the EVA ones

Boots wise I have some Dr Martens (real and knock offs, although I usually put a gel insole in them) and some Frye Engineers (£££ but I got them second hand on eBay)

Converse with a platform are better than the flat ones.

Walking boots - Skechers Highland (chunky mad Max style things with straps, most comfy shoes EVER, and they bear little resemblance to the Skechers that MN sneers at)

What I struggle with is shoes for more formal occasions. Luckily these don't come along very often, and I have a pair of ballet flats that mostly do.

TulipTuesday · 25/06/2023 09:43

I have thin flat feet and find converse the most comfortable shoes for me. I have many pairs.

I used to work for Hotter and struggled to find any that weren’t too wide for me but do have a pair of their York Chelsea boots that are a great fit.

Also got some Gola retro style pumps that are great.

I always struggle with smart shoes and could never wear a slip on style, my feet are just too flat and narrow. I always have to add insoles to boots too.

RampantIvy · 25/06/2023 09:45

I think that if you removed the logo from all brands of trainers Skechers would be more popular on MN.

SirVixofVixHall · 25/06/2023 09:46

My friend with your shape of feet wears Hotter’s sandals. I have wide feet with a high instep and my Fitflop trainers are the most comfortable shoes I own.

Marezydotes · 25/06/2023 09:50

Rampantivy I think when Skechers are mentioned, people imagine these, when they actually have a huge range of styles!

Sketchers here - size 6 blobby wrecked by pre eclampsia and mild arthritis feet.
They have a huge range of styles, including sandals, wedges, and more. DS has school shoes from there.
If you can get to a shop you will see.

LovelySparrow · 25/06/2023 09:57

I have a Morton's neuroma and osteoarthritis in my big toe so I need a wide toe box area but I have narrow feet and narrow ankles which causes massive problems as wider shoes tend to be wide the whole way back which I can't wear

I wear Brooks trainers, fitflop toe post sandals, merrell sandals and merrell walking shoes (the ones made for trail running). I can wear m and s loafers but not to walk distances in. I'm a size 5 in normal shoes and 6 in trainers

ownworstnme · 25/06/2023 10:03

Heavenly Feet

Am a wide size 6 with high arch. Friends with various feet shapes all love them.

RampantIvy · 25/06/2023 10:42

You are right @Marezydotes, yet Skechers do so many types of generic looking trainers that without a logo you wouldn't know what brand they are.

@LovelySparrow my osteoarthritis is in my big toe as well. It is excruciatingly painful. I can't wear heels any more. My feet are wide across the toes with narrow heels and I need shoes that come higher up my feet for support.

My Joseph Siebel sandals are brilliant because the straps are adjustable.

MaryShelley1818 · 25/06/2023 10:56

I had no idea they were disliked on here but SKECHERS!!! Like walking on air literally.
I don't give a monkeys what they look like or about names/brands. They are just unbeatable for comfort.

We do Disney/theme park holidays and can walk 10miles a day and my feet never hurt in them.

I'm getting old, they look so comfy! 😅

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/06/2023 10:57

I have narrow flat feet.

I wear Mustangs with orthotic insoles.

takealettermsjones · 25/06/2023 11:00

I'm size 8, fairly wide feet.

Work shoes/boots - M&S
Gym trainers - Nike or New Balance
Sandals/flip flops - Skechers
Wellies/walking boots - Muck Boot Co

millymae · 25/06/2023 11:09

I don’t have the best feet - size 37 and wide-ish.
I can wear my New Balance 327 trainers (Size 38) all day without any problems and in the winter I’m never out of my Doc Marten side zip boots. For some reason I can’t get the more usual style on my feet and have 2 pairs with zips - one of which was bought from the children’s section when the sizing went up to a 5 and are so old that I've had to have the zips replaced. I also have a pair of Fit Flop short suede sheepskin lined boots that I bought to replace Ugg boots and are really warm and comfy even without socks.
For summer I have a pair of Ugg Chivon loafers. These aren’t made any more and I’ll be sad when they fall apart. I managed to find my current pair a couple of years ago in an eBay charity shop but I still have another much older pair that I keep in the car in case we end up somewhere sea sidey. These have been wet so many times and are stained and tatty but they still have plenty of life left in them.
I hardly ever wear what I would call a normal shoe or sandal as I don’t have much need for them. I keep one pair of M&S plain high heeled court shoes in the wardrobe and have a couple of pairs of old Birkenstocks and a new pair of their Boston clogs that I wore to walk round Liverpool in yesterday without any problems at all.

Jins · 25/06/2023 11:10

Size 3.5 wide feet with high arch and short toes
I’ve never found an uncomfortable pair of Skechers yet from the Go walks to the wedges.
Fitflop I need to size up to a 4 but very comfortable. The toe post ones don’t work for me though
Birkenstocks - good from the start. Arizona and gizeh in Spring/summer, Boston in autumn
90% of my time is spent in Crocs Athens flip flops.

MegaClutterSlut · 25/06/2023 11:19

Love my Skechers. Didn't realise they were frowned upon until I mentioned to dd 16 that she should get some. Apparently they're 'old lady shoes' 😂

MegaClutterSlut · 25/06/2023 11:20

Should also add I do easily 20k + steps at work per shift and my feet never hurt in my sketchers

RampantIvy · 25/06/2023 11:24

DD (22) wears Skechers for work as she is on her feet all day.

The fashion police on MN sneer at Skechers, but I suspect they think they all look like those ones that @Marezydotes posted upthread, but loads of them could easily be a dupe for the more fashionable brands. If only they would overcome their prejudice.
