Please share the brand/style AND ALSO describe what shape feet you have.

My mum swears by Hotter but she has small chunky feet, whereas mine are long and almost completely flat, so I suspect any style that works for her would give me blisters.

Gabor “lanzarote” sandals are great for arch support.

Innocents4321 · 25/06/2023 14:40

I have feet that react to EVERYTHING. Blisters, pain on my soles, pain on my toes, you name it. I clearly have unusual shape feet. Trainers seem to be ok. Also ebay cheapo shoes, Next foam shoes and softsoles by shoezone. I have no idea why my feet only tolerate cheap shoes but I am beyond caring. I have a wardrobe full of expensive shoes I can’t wear. 🤷‍♀️

Clarks do an 'Un' range, which is just about the only shoe I can wear without issues

Funny Dream
Unloop
Freckle Ice

Size 7 & wide feet. Fitflop or crocs are heaven - can easily do 16 hour shifts.

wear sketchers (mandatory) at current work place and feet stink to high heaven and beyond. Machine washing doesn’t help. We’re comfortable for about a month, now as flat as road kill.

purplecorkheart · 25/06/2023 14:45

Heavenly Feet, Dune flat sandals, M&S, Sketchers and Rieker are my go to. Size 7 with a slightly low arch and very thick ankles (which makes boots a nightmare). Might be worth considering getting insoles if you have a very flat arch. They will massively increase the comfort of shoes. A bit expensive but really worth it in my experience.

luckylavender · 25/06/2023 14:51

I have narrow bony size 7 feet. I've just had to ditch Birkenstock Boston as they started to cut my toes. Go to brands: Skechers, Moshulu, Clarks, Heavenly Feet & Fly London.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/06/2023 14:59

Side 9, slightly wide, a bit flat, plantar facitis. The most amazingly comfortable shoes I have are some Puma white leather tennis shoes (look a lot like AirForce 1s)- I've tried to get them in black for winter, but I guess tennis shoes only come on white.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 25/06/2023 15:00

Any suggestions for smart comfortable shoes?

RosesAndHellebores · 25/06/2023 15:08

@SilverGlitterBaubles

Ferragamo
LK Bennett if narrow
Stuart Weitzman
Peter Kaiser

DD is very wide and has found Sargasso and Grey.

MrsMariaReynolds · 25/06/2023 15:08

I have chunky, wide and painful feet, and Hotter, Brooks, FitFlops and Vans are my go to brands.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 25/06/2023 15:22

RosesAndHellebores · 25/06/2023 14:36

My podiatrist advises against Sketchers.

Mine too.

I had one eposide of plantar facitis and thankfully haven't had it since following her advice.

Brooks or Asics trainers.
Remonte & Reiker for boots and sandles.

Unfortunately, none of the above do nice heels but if I wear the above 80% of the time, I seem to be able to get away with heels the other 20%.

BestIsWest · 25/06/2023 15:23

Long, narrow 42/8
Fitflops Rally are brilliant for me. M&S and Clarks not too bad. Cannot wear Skechers.
I have ASICS gel Cumulus for the gym and North Face Hedgehogs for walking - sized up to 43 in both though.

Kitkatfiend31 · 25/06/2023 15:33

Size 7 normal /wide feet.
Fly shoes and boots are always comfortable for me. And Skechers are fab but you have to try different styles sometimes.

Useyourfork · 25/06/2023 15:39

Oh and Gabor or Ecco for smart shoes

Lacucuracha · 25/06/2023 15:44

Merrell hiking sandals for the summer, I can walk miles in them.

TallTrees78 · 25/06/2023 15:46

Very wide size 7 (sometimes 7.5) with normal to high arch. I think my feet from ankle to toes are quite rectangular looking - I need a lot of toe room so always go for round rather than pointy shoe shapes.

I wear:
Sketchers trainers - normal fit as find them wide.
Fit flop - I can't remember the "foot technology" type but they have some suitable for wide feet.
Toms - "Mallow" canvas ones as have a wider sole than normal Toms.
Extra Wide Hotter shoes, boots and sandals
Wide Clark's for smart work shoes

In the past:
M&S wide fit for sandals but prefer Hotter now as their sandals have better soles. Find M&S wide fit shoes still too narrow.
Evans wide fit shoes and boots - particularly when knee high boots were in fashion.

I find there's much more choice now compared to when I was younger - used to hate shoe shopping. I was thrilled when I discovered Hotter (courtesy of my mum), finally a whole range of shoes, boots and sandals I could get my feet into!

Highfivemum · 25/06/2023 15:50

Geox are very good. I only have little feet (3) and I can buy children’s. I also love timberland boots and vans pumps

StellaAndCrow · 25/06/2023 15:51

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 25/06/2023 14:33

Here's the Ecco, Skechers and Fitflops I most recently bought. Nobody has pointed and laughed yet but I suppose I've not run into any achingly edgy Mumsnetters who have nothing better to do than sneer at my feet.

Hi I WhenIWasAField, what make is the black lace up boot please? I had similar from Gabor I think, wore them out, and having difficulty finding a replacement. Thank you!

Those are Ecco Sartorelle or something. I got my first pair from Amazon oddly, as they were cheaper than the Ecco website, and I've just replaced them with the latest version (identical except for no zip) in the sale on Zalando for the coming winter.

Loafbeginsat60 · 25/06/2023 08:50

I like ariat loafers but I have small quite wide feet. I bought a size 3 and they are really comfy.

I also like the fairfax and favor trainers and next forever comfort

Boots - ariat or dubarry and wellies - le Chameu neoprene. Bought a size 4 in these tho as they are quite neat.

Are you a horse person?

Cherrysoup · 25/06/2023 17:22

Very wide feet, size 9 and I’m in Dr Martens usually. However, I just bought some Vivaia shoes, they look comfy, I’ll update when they arrive. Praying they fit, one foot is currently swollen due to a medical issue.

gettingoldisshit · 25/06/2023 17:38

I love me a pair of sketchers! I don't care what people say about them 🤷‍♀️! I have a really high instep and wide size 7's.

isthisit83 · 25/06/2023 18:11

I'm with your mum. I really like Hotter shoes. I have a couple styles

BadNomad · 25/06/2023 20:11

Size 6, wide and flat. I tend to stick to boots or trainers with supportive backs because I feel like my ankles are a bit weak and floppy from falling over on them so much over the years (dyspraxia). But my big issue with finding good boots is that "wide fitting" seems to mean wide fitting at the ankles and calves too, which defeats the purpose of wanting them for support.
