Please share the brand/style AND ALSO describe what shape feet you have.

My mum swears by Hotter but she has small chunky feet, whereas mine are long and almost completely flat, so I suspect any style that works for her would give me blisters.

I’ve size 8 wide feet with bloody bunions!!!!

find it impossible to get comfy smart shoes.

On running for casuals work well though.

Love my Skechers. Didn't realise they were frowned upon until I mentioned to dd 16 that she should get some. Apparently they're 'old lady shoes' 😂

My 18 year old DD likes sketchers

MissingMoominMamma · 25/06/2023 11:29

Most of my shoes are trainers by Allbirds; my sliders (worn as often as possible) are too.

They are, without a doubt, the comfiest shoes ever.

Air and Grace are so comfortable. I'm a size 4.

Toms are so comfy!!

OneTC · 25/06/2023 11:35

I'm comfortable in anything but OH who has problem feet loves ECCO

notacooldad · 25/06/2023 11:36

Suze 6 with a bunion on bothered feet. I walk a lot or on my feet a lot.
Dr marten sandals have been fabulous for me for the last 4 summers. Really comfortable Also Fly London sandals have been stylish and comfy.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 25/06/2023 11:37

Barefoot shoes. Merrells and Vivobarefoot. My toes have spread out now and I have to have shoes with a wide toebox. Size 6 and high instep. I have to say though that one Merrell I tried recently had a big lump in the middle, on the instep, which was horrible, do make sure you try different designs.

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone it would be see a podiatrist early on in life. I didn't and have suffered with my feet for 20 years - even having surgery on one.

Saw a podiatrist and was given exercises and heaps of advice. Your gait impacts not just on your feet but your whole body - everything is connected so back ache, knee and hip problems often stem from your feet.

The podiatrist made me insoles which I can wear in all my shoes and the pain in my feet and hip has gone and I can wear a wider range of shoes.

That said, I find Josef Siebl shoes are very comfortable and well made.

motherofawhirlwind · 25/06/2023 11:53

Size 8, flat, wide. Hotter are the best I have found for sandals and Skechers Go Walk for trainers. Dorothy Perkins wide fit chelsea boots.

Freshstarts23 · 25/06/2023 11:53

I used to be able to wear toms but now they make my feet sweat.

I don’t really know what shape my feet are, but I do have a protruding lump on my heel (the bit where you get blisters) which I think has been caused by shoes and blisters. Now I can’t wear anything other than trainers without getting blisters there. I’m really struggling as I need shoes for work. I can wear boots in the winter but right now I can’t find anything. I buy shoes that feel comfortable and get blisters the first time I wear them.

LovelySparrow · 25/06/2023 14:13

@RampantIvy it's horrible isn't it. I will have a look at the Joseph Siegel sandals as they sound great

Equalitea · 25/06/2023 14:15

Adidas ultra boost or Ascis gel (not sure which!) for exercise

tevas foam sole, Birkenstocks

m&s comfort sole heels

BertieBotts · 25/06/2023 14:16

Skechers, but I have no idea what shape feet I have - narrow? I used to have flat feet as a teenager but no idea if I still do.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/06/2023 14:17

Sketchers with arch lift.

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 25/06/2023 14:19

Long narrow size 41. Enormously long big toe. Ex Plantar Fascitis cured by:

Ecco
Fitflop Rally.
Hotters
Skechers

All generally black lace up ankle boots in winter, white leather sneakers in summer.

Fandabedodgy · 25/06/2023 14:23

Sketchers are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet

Xrays · 25/06/2023 14:24

The Mumsnet sneering at sketchers makes me laugh as they’re actually “in” again now - certain styles anyway. Lots on Asos in the new in section, chunky styles to Nike etc. They don’t have to be the old go to styles that they used to have. They’re super comfy.

But then I feel that way about Crocs. I mean lots might say they’re hideous but they fit my short wide feet really well and are so comfy. I’ve lived in them this summer and I’m so glad they’re back in fashion again! 😆

Xrays · 25/06/2023 14:24

Muddygreenfingers · 25/06/2023 14:31

Saltwater boardwalk sandals. Nothing like it.

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 25/06/2023 14:33

Here's the Ecco, Skechers and Fitflops I most recently bought. Nobody has pointed and laughed yet but I suppose I've not run into any achingly edgy Mumsnetters who have nothing better to do than sneer at my feet.

Obviously one has to follow the rules as apparently (see other thread) if you wear any of the above brands you aren't allowed to wear skirts or dresses. Oddly none of the posters wanging on about old lady shoes has shown any of theirs yet.

RosesAndHellebores · 25/06/2023 14:35

Size 5, average to wide, quite square feet with shortish toes.

My go to makes are:

Gabor
Josef Siebel
Some Clarkes/some Jones the Bootmaker

I need a removable insole in some shoes for my orthotics

I do not fare well with: M&S (even slippers), Hotter or Ecco. In the past I have really liked Van Dal (and they have been quite stylish) but they have all but disappeared, Birkies are the equivalent of instruments of torture.

For smart/formal occasions I have a couple of pairs of Ferragamo classic shoes Blush. I used to buy LKB but they don't work any more.

RosesAndHellebores · 25/06/2023 14:36

My podiatrist advises against Sketchers.

Redebs · 25/06/2023 14:38

Clarks do an 'Un' range, which is just about the only shoe I can wear without issues
