Nude leggings, surely no.

They look weird and like you've forgotten half your clothes...

I googled the nude lycra playsuit thing, it looks like undies. Like shapewear or something.
I can't believe people think that would be okay for a church funeral.

In fairness, the ones I saw at a funeral were black, but a lot of people on the thread were very much of the opinion everyone should be able to wear whatever they want, whenever they want.

mynameisnotthis2 · 24/06/2023 22:10

I live in (black) leggings but I have a lot of longline tops and long cardigans that cover my bum.
Agree that nude leggings can sometimes look strange from a distance on a white person.

EmmaEmerald · 24/06/2023 23:53

long that's even listed as underwear
haven't seen that out and about yet.

fogz · 25/06/2023 13:39

I saw a pair of these in the wild today on someone who really, really shouldn't have been wearing them.

I say that as someone who really, really shouldn't be wearing them either.

Body shaming at it's finest.

All directed at women.

Nothing will change if women are so determined to undermine other women.

If you don't like what you're seeing, look the other way!

Isn't it! Amazing the amount of "feminists" on here. Quite ageist too. Maybe we should all rock ugly Boden smock dress and Veja trainers and keep them happy!

xogossipgirlxo · 24/06/2023 14:43

I don't understand wearing leggings outside house anyway (unless you're out jogging or going to some sports classes), but nude ones are hideous. I don't know if they are worse or those that accent butt crack 😬

Maybe because they are comfortable. Have we gone back into Victorian times?? Do I need to get my dress hoop out and make sure I look my best at all times for the miserable judgey MNers out there?

kelsaycobbles · 25/06/2023 14:09

Well if you find leggings comfortable as opposed to irritating - tight on the legs but falling down from waist and hips

It’s not body-shaming. Nobody’s saying that only people with a certain body type should wear them. They’re saying that they flatter NOBODY.

If that’s body-shaming then any critique of any style of clothing is body-shaming. For example saying that you think clear shoes are unattractive because you see people’s feet all scrunched up and sweaty 🤷‍♀️

PollyAmour · 25/06/2023 14:31

I agree that nude leggings/cycling shorts make me do a double-take, thinking at first the person is naked from the waist down. However, it is just a fashion trend, and mainly worn by the young, slender and toned.

On the other hand, I firmly believe people should wear what they feel comfortable in, and not conform in their clothing choices to please other people.

I'm not a fan of comfortable sandals and sister wife style dresses, but I'd never judge anyone for wearing them, I also don't like the middle-c[ass, middle-aged summer uniform of floral dress, white trainers, cropped denim jacket and accessorised with a crossbody bag - again, if that's what you like, and enjoy wearing, then go ahead. I wouldn't wear either outfit but people who do wear them generally look fabulous, if a little Stepford.

MonumentalLentil · 25/06/2023 14:38

Diddykong · 24/06/2023 13:33

It's ones that don't skim but actually go tight into your bum crack so if you're a toned young thing everyone can see your sculpted cheeks in all their glory. But they're essentially for the male gaze and look ridiculous.

The thought of the sweat and thrush....
🤢

NeedWineNow · 25/06/2023 15:19

Seems to be the fashion for the young things in our local town whatever size they are. Complete with matching crop tops. Two girls were ahead of me and DH coming out of the station the other day and we both thought they were naked!

BarrelOfOtters · 25/06/2023 19:39

I did thin the girls/women wearing little floppy skirts and dresses or floppy trousers and non Lycra shorts looked cooler and better.

it’s such an unlikelook to be so fashionable when almost nobody looks good in it.

Oh come on. Nude leggings look absolutely hideous. People can wear what they want, but they’re vile.

Does that opinion mean I can’t be a feminist? Please, do let me know what the rules are.

Laiste · 25/06/2023 20:13

I think the 'No one must tell the truth say anything negative about other people's choices' thing has fuelled this decent into some very strange main stream looks these days.

''It looks good on that celeb (in her £££ designer version of it with £££ professionally photo-shopped-into-pure-fantasy non-reality world pics) so i will copy it and look just as good for only £9.99 from Asos!''

Yeah .... erm ... no actually.

BarbaraofSeville · 25/06/2023 20:17

My objection to all this is that it's only acceptable because it's popular/fashionable.

Can you imagine how any girl who dressed like this of her own free choice rather than because everyone else does would be treated by her peers? She would be destroyed.

That's an interesting point.
I've thought this at various times seeing fashions change.

I remember wearing skin tight Levi Roxannes years ago thinking flares would never ever come back and how daft anyone would look if they wore them. But we were all in boot cut kick flares (remember the Miss Sixty's?) within a few years saying ''who on earth would ever wear skinny jeans again ...'' 😂

Really not sure the skin tight lycra 'left the house naked' look will come around again <hopes>

PollyAmour · 25/06/2023 20:41

I blame Kim Kardashian for this look. I bet when she's away from the cameras, she's wearing loose and comfortable cotton dresses, and the flesh coloured leggings are consigned to the bin.

DiagonalDots · 30/06/2023 12:52
just dont look GIF

I think if you've got the body confidence then wear whatever you like.

They're not my style but so what if people don't like it? People don't like lots of things.

PomTiddlyPomPom · 30/06/2023 13:20

As a larger lady myself you can prize my black leggings* *out of my cold dead hands..... I wear them with longer tops and often wear them to work (office job).
I don't care if others 'don't understand' why people would wear them out of the house!
The nude ones are a step too far for me, I have a teenage daughter and whilst she hasn't asked me for nude leggings yet the time will probably come as her friends and older peers are wearing them. If she wants to wear them I will get her some because fashion changes and there is always an outcry at first before people get used to something.
I remember when black leggings came back after being consigned to the 80's, loads of us in the office laughed and now we all wear them🤷‍♀️

Conkersinautumn · 30/06/2023 14:03

Yes. I can confirm that the nude ones but with those panels to lift and with cinching so they properly disappear into your arse crack are worse than straight forward nude leggings. The woman on the school run wearing one you could see all those uneven dents and I'm sure they actually made her particular backside less smooth than it normally would luck as figure wise I'd be so pleased if I had hers! Two cars beeping as they went past the school stood almost in the road and unfortunately I think it was her seemingly naked arse drawing that. Not that it's OK to behave like that, but I wasn't the only one biting my lip at her confusion. The colour matching in her case to her bare arms was pretty spot on.

I couldn’t agree more, but I do find myself doing a double take occasionally because at first glance I think the person has no keks on… it’s disconcerting and not a
look I personally would go for. But yes it takes all kinds 😂
