They look weird and like you've forgotten half your clothes...

What's with the nude shortie all in one tight outfits with a coloured shirt open over the top?

I've had to double take too many times recently to check people walking down the road haven't forgotten to get dressed 🫣🤣

I've never seen that but it sounds hideous

Horrific sight during the week. Won’t say where just in case but young-ish very overweight woman carrying a baby and wearing nude, almost see through tight top and shorts. It was utterly awful. She had a bf with her. How’s he let her go out like that??

Oh her boyfriend should control what she wears should he?

Pottedpalm · 24/06/2023 19:50

Any leggings as outerwear are a no for me, unless going directly to a class. I don’t want to see huge lardy arses in leggings.

Anyonebut · 24/06/2023 19:51

I have seen a young woman wearing nude scrunch bum leggings at my gym. IMO they’re a hazard to onlookers on treadmills who may lose their footing while trying to figure out what’s going on.

AnObserverInThisDarkWorld · 24/06/2023 19:51

Since this has decended into "all leggings are wrong"

There are plenty of Gym style leggings, patterned leggings and others that are fine as clothing
It's called times change

In this case, yes. If he was a decent human he would’ve told her not to go out looking so appalling. I suppose you had to be there and witness it for yourself really

SleepingStandingUp · 24/06/2023 19:58

I'd oy wear there with a long top / dress knee length so I don't flash actual knickers. Just wearing them with a top if it's your skin colour is weird.

I admit to owning a pair with a pattern on so it looks like fancy tights from afar. Not my classiest item I admit but I'd never wear without something knee length!!

Then stop looking at my butt. But good to know I'm ok if I'm wearing them to Uni 😂

And then she'd be on here saying "AIBU my BF told me I looked awful and made me change"
And people would cry LTB

Tidsleytiddy · 24/06/2023 13:50

I googled too. Anyone old enough to remember Kenny Everett in the leopard print leggings and the arse getting bigger and bigger? 🤣

😂😂
I've never been able to watch Rod Stewart with a straight face since!

<I think Michael Mackintyre's dad had something to do with writing that sketch>

YeahIsaidit · 24/06/2023 20:14

I think all leggings are wrong and shouldn't be used as a substitute for proper trousers/bottoms. I think they were created to make larger people feel better as a usual size 20 can shoehorn themselves into a 12 and feel better about themselves because they're in a smaller size. Testing the elasticity of fabrics to the point they're transparent isn't cute

AlexTfan · 24/06/2023 20:20

Your skin colour makes no difference. It looks awful on everybody.

Please just trust me on this one. They were a washed out peach colour and stretched to see through. The shorts had ridden up. She may as well have gone out naked.

I have just realised that my username is probably not the best one to be using on this thread...

Tidsleytiddy · 24/06/2023 20:22

Lol 🤣

BogRollBOGOF · 24/06/2023 20:25

Years ago there was someone at aqua fit with a tankini with a lovely coloured stripy top... and nude bottoms. Add in prancing around chest deep in water and it really was an awkward optical illusion to ignore if positioned close behind her.

Leggings in general, fine as long as they're solid enough to fulfill their duty. But not nude where it's close to skin tone. Unless it is actually underwear.

bleepbloopImABot · 24/06/2023 10:38

This was when I knew, I mean really knew, that I was old and out of touch 😂

I mean honestly, they do no one any favours anyway, even in other colours.

YES

I grew up in fanny skimmer minis (80s/90s) so not a clothing prude - but we wore them with thick tights in winter, minis with thongs underneath, shorts that your butt cheeks fall out of and very thin leggings that hug your butt crack and cellulite are beyond me - and the latter particularly arresting in morning coffee queues..

I haven't seen that or the sort of playsuit described by someone.

Body shaming at it's finest.

All directed at women.

Nothing will change if women are so determined to undermine other women.

If you don't like what you're seeing, look the other way!

It isn’t.

It’s the same as complaining about builders bum - I don’t want to see the details of anyone’s arse, male or female.

The whole nude leggings and crop top look is a popular one with teenage girls in particular. Many of our sixth form students wear this to school. They all have very long straightened hair as well. Sometimes it's like having Lady Godivas in the classroom.

😁

No I think you'll find it's not that at all. In my post I said I admired the confidence of the size 30 parent at my son's school who walked in wearing nude leggings and a crop top. The issue is here is who invented nude leggings and thought it was a look.

Maireas · 24/06/2023 20:46

EmmaEmerald · 24/06/2023 20:28

Right, it basically looks like a pair of tight, nude hot pants attached to a tight, nude vest top. I think it comes from the Kardashians look.

Maireas · 24/06/2023 20:49

I really admire this level of body confidence. I've never been able to walk around in anything that didn't cover and conceal. When I was a teenager I just thought I looked dreadful and covered up completely!

Nevermind31 · 24/06/2023 20:49

Amuseaboosh · 24/06/2023 16:35

Nope. I don't look pale or naked in them as I have brown skin, I'm Indian. They look very obviously like clothes on me.

I feel good wearing them, and I don't ever look at how others react to my choice of clothing.

If you get attention based on how you look, that's going to happen regardless. Wear what makes you happy.

I would have thought that from a distance and seeing your back, people would just think you are a pale person without trousers (ie double take, then realise that you are wearing nude leggings), and your actual skin tone not coming into it?
