Look, nobody likes a drip-feeding OP, but by the time you read a thread things may very well have moved on. If you interrupted a friend halfway through her story and offered her advice you’d feel pretty bloody stupid when she told you that she had already done what you suggested!

Please please please use “See All” (mobile site) or “Filter OP’s posts only” (app) before replying to threads.

Pics below in case you don’t know how to find this magic function. MB you can also highlight OP’s posts in a different colour in settings if you want to see them in context while scrolling through all the responses as well.

(The thread I picked as the example is a particularly bad one).

It’s also quite a useful way to know if a long thread is worth bothering with - if I see that the OP has only posted once and fucked of them I tend to give it a miss.

YADNBU - there should be mandatory training in this before you're allowed to post (only slightly light hearted)😁

ginslinger · 23/06/2023 17:37

I applaud your endeavours but the hard of thinking will never get it.

Superspecs · 23/06/2023 17:40

I'm on the app (android) but the only options are share and report.

Superspecs · 23/06/2023 17:41

Sorry, quote and report.

ChocChipHandbag · 23/06/2023 17:41

The funniest thing is that the very end of the thread is alternately full of people either posting out of date advice or people who are berating the out-of-date advice posters for not reading the whole thread- yet the out-if -date advice posters will clearly never go anywhere near the end of the thread so the beraters are screaming into a vacuum!

Did you not search this topic before posting? As it’s posted about regularly.

yes it’s annoying, but so are the countless threads moaning and ‘reminding’ us.

Childhoodnostalgia · 23/06/2023 17:43

I have been on here years and this subject comes up time and time again. It’s not for you to police, no matter how annoying you find it.

ChocChipHandbag · 23/06/2023 17:45

Superspecs · 23/06/2023 17:41

Sorry, quote and report.

Can you screenshot? I have an iPhone so never seen the Android app but perhaps I can make a guess at where the function might be.

On the app on iPhone you need Premium membership to filter the posts of anyone who has replied, but you can always filter just OP’s posts for free. Are you possibly looking for it not on one of OP’s posts?

Same here. Not an option on the app

HappyKatieA · 23/06/2023 17:46

I don't have that option, I'm on an iPhone on the App.

Sadly no option to view all ops posts on the android app. Mnhq could really do with adding it in.

Sigmama · 23/06/2023 17:47

can one just scroll on if something is irrelevant or repetitive

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/06/2023 17:47

This comes up often. I used to use the App on my Android phone but don't now, and one reason is it definitely, 100% isn't an option to see all OP's posts on the app for Android. The app for Apple phones does give that option. Huge omission, no idea why this should be so.

I’m not policing.

Read the title of my post again.

I am informing. I am explaining HOW to do it. Then asking people nicely to do it (three pleases FFS, that’s not how coppers talk round my neck of the woods!)

Anyway, who made you the policing police? What are you, AC12 or something?

Should be a ban-able offence to post without reading all the OP's updates Grin

I think I've just found it.

You do, but only on the OP.

Its the filter button on the top right (second one in)

Whenwillitallmakesense · 23/06/2023 17:49

I agree, totally. But making the millionth thread about it will not make people stop. Just like people will ask questions that are plainly addressed in OP; or people quoting the longest posts. All ridiculous, all a PITA and irritating but so are these threads complaining about them.

I'm so excited! I really didn't know that previously, that's going to save me hours!

Loub55 · 23/06/2023 17:50

They really need to add this feature onto the android app, really annoying it doesn't have it!

Seriously? The whole point is to post a thread that people see now, since it’s particularly bad today. I know it’s been posted about before. Quite possibly by me.

Your approach is like taking down speed limit signs and expecting people just to read the Highway Code instead.

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 23/06/2023 17:53

I am becoming more and more convinced as the day wears on that they're taking the piss over on the thread @ChocChipHandbag
I've never, in the 19 years I've been here been on a thread where so many people are doing it.
Maybe I've been lucky.
