More and more of my friends reply to my texts with a voice note and cite this exact phrase. Yes, it’s easier. But ONLY for the sender, not the recipient! I hate having to speed up the bastard things to get to the point of the message, when I could scan read a text in a matter of seconds.

Also, I don’t mind them when I’ve got a free day and can listen whilst pottering about with housework, but there’s no chance I can listen when I’m at work, so I have to leave them hanging for hours instead of seeing the text and quickly replying.

YANBU. Tell them you don’t like voice notes because they are slow to listen to. Just tell them! They are your friends!

Instead of a voice note they can dictate a message. Exactly the same process but you get to read it.

It’s so annoying, like voice messages.

Tell them to use dictation and send a bloody text / WhatsApp

I never listen to VM which sort of sorts it, sort of.

Hate the things. It annoys me that the person is far too busy to take a few seconds to type a message but I have to waste my time listening to the shitting thing.

Takes half a day to listen to them. Then when they’re long (they’re always long) you’ve yo make bloody notes to reply to each point. And everyone who sends them to me starts with OPs phrase. You told me this the last time you sent me a voice note. Stop trying to explain your use of them, accept you’re wrong and send me a fudging text.

Maybe I should put a line under my WhatsApp profile:

“Don’t want a reply? Then send me a VN!”😂

Some of my friends start a new voice note for each point they make, so I have to press play about 7 times!

Ack voice notes are so obnoxious. Like I want the randoms in my immediate vicinity hearing details of my conversation! Like they want to hear it! Everything about voice notes is annoying, so YABU.

I also have a pet peeve about people holding their phones upside down to speak into the microphone but that’s another story.

I must be old, as none of my friends do this.

Hate them. Esp if I am on the Tube or a bud and can't hear them properly.

Ugh they are so bloody annoying, I've got a friend who keeps sending them despite me and my other friend telling her how inconvenient it is so now we just ignore her when she only sends a voice note...

Yeah I hate this. My sister is self employed so can do what she likes and will leave me 2 minute long ones mid text conversation with her which I then can't listen to because I'm at work, then it kills the conversation because by the time I've listened to it we've both moved on.

Apparently the next IOS will have a feature that turns it into text THANK GOD

So glad I'm not alone on this, I HATE them. I have one friend who only ever leaves them and they're up to ten minutes long sometimes, my heart sinks when I see she's left me one. Sometimes it takes me a day or so to have the energy to listen to it. Another friend has started doing it recently too, it is so selfish as it assumes you have 10 minutes just to sit and listen to them waffle! Just type out or dictate a message and you'll get a much quicker answer from me.

most of my friends use voice notes, way quicker, you can say so much more and it’s like having a proper conversation but you’re not tied up on the phone for a 15 minute chat.

I always voicenote as I am always feeding the chuffing baby 😤

Plus you can listen to them in company, hold it next to your ear and no one else can hear.
