I'll go for "I'll have the gravlax", "Dust Magnet", "The Happy World of Haribo", "Bladder leakage" and Plusnet's Pink Furry Ball (the vacuum cleaner ad that never was).

OP posts:

The Secret Escapes one with all the whispering. Also the Tresemme one for the same reason.

Am I the only one who switches off when the adverts come on or go on my phone? 🤔

No, we tend to mute the ads, at least we don't have to listen to the bloody rubbish. And I actually close my eyes when some are on too!

DoraSpenlow · 19/06/2023 10:55

The Slimfast one with the fat bloke in a pink tracksuit and RAP music you can't understand and finishing with 'More oomph for your boomph'. What is that even supposed to mean?

Seraphina1993 · 19/06/2023 10:59

Grannnnyyy! I got the job!

the80sweregreat · 19/06/2023 11:02

The slim fast one is odd !

Catbumps · 19/06/2023 11:13

That On the Beach one. I mean I don’t usually hate children on site but that gloating obnoxious kid was another thing entirely. I wanted to slap him (don’t ever slap kids, please).

AuntieMarys · 19/06/2023 06:02

We never watch ITV for that reason. I hate adverts

We just tend to start watching things on record about 15 mins after it starts so you can just zip through the ads.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 19/06/2023 11:47

Dunno if it's still on, but - "bladder leak pants that are actually PRRRETTEH"

Agree to the ad with the lady with her knickers round her ankles sat on the loo…makes me cringe

Me too. I hate the whispering adverts and also the Magnum one when they bite into the ice cream, sets my teeth on edge.

Also don't like the Lloyds one where she sings this girl is on fire. It wails too much for me and this girl has to turn over.

KimberleyClark · 19/06/2023 13:26

I hate the Dove men adverts because the men all look so smug.

BellyBeGone · 19/06/2023 13:40

Agree with the annoying rap on the slim fast adverts. Why would you get big narsty to advertise slim fast?
And as attractive as Kelly Brook is, she’s just kept getting bigger since she teamed up with them. I barely recognised her in the ad with him.
Wouldn’t make me want to buy it Tbf.

Catbumps · 19/06/2023 13:49

that’s nice for you but what relevance does it have to this thread? There’s always the few posters who want to signal how clever/ alternative they are with their ad-avoidance.

ComputerInitiateJump · 19/06/2023 13:50

The Age Partnership ad with the lady with her 5 beagles who wants to buy a kitchen with equity release. She's even consulted her family solicitors and her friend is doing it too 🙄

I hate ads with actors playing the part of bona-fide customers. Usually on during Coundown and A Place in the Sun. My elderly in laws get sucked in by these types of ads. They should be banned.

Agree with this. The Noom advert is the same. An obese woman saying how Noom has changed her eating habits and all I can think is 'well it hasn't helped you lose weight unless you were even bigger before'?. I genuinely don't understand why they've used an obese model in a dieting app and at least no shown an 'after photo' or how much weight she's lost.

Phoenix1Arisen · 19/06/2023 14:08

The Vauxhall Mokka ad with its flailing, parasitic, snake like lead. The instant it 'bites' I cringe...primeval response, perhaps.

I've remembered some more - the car advert, where the family are at some mountainside cafe, sitting outside with beautiful views, and the kids are just on their cellphones, so the parents dump the kids' luggage by the road, and drive off. Child abandonment is a good thing, when advertising a car, is it?

And the Hyundai advert where all the people are pronouncing it wrongly, and getting sent to all the wrong places, and some know-it-all tells the last one it's pronounced Hyun-dee. I am damn sure that, up until that advert, they have been using the other pronunciation in their adverts - Hie-un-die - so how the feck were we supposed to know that's not how to say it.

@ItsWorkNotAParty - the On the Beach ad annoys me too - especially the extended version, where they almost all behave like utter twats, all the way from the airport lounge onwards. The little girl is the only one who doesn't - and she's rewarded by losing her ice cream, and having her brother taunt her.

I love the one where they dump the moody ignorant teenagers....every parents fantasy!!!!

TheWernethWife · 19/06/2023 14:20

The Loan one with 99.9% APR.

the80sweregreat · 19/06/2023 14:31

I know people hated it , but the old ' on the beach ' one was different as it showed children being a bit mean to each other ( boy with the ice cream ) and a normal shaped mum in a swimming costume not really caring what she looked like , rather than a picture perfect family of four who are slim and good looking and getting on with each other with the mum looking like Kate Moss in a bikini! Maybe it's just me, but at least it wasn't trying to show holidays as being insta perfect , just ordinary people with usual family gripes and hang ups, but still will have a nice time despite it all!

I bloody hate this advert! Mostly because the woman annoys me but yeah it’s a bit much while you’re eating lunch.

The ad isn't about menstrual cycles, it's about bladder weakness, but in either case of course we shouldn't pretend they don't exist,
But there are ways of advertising your product with a bit more taste and dignity towards your targeted audience,
I bloody hate that particular ad too, with the woman pouring liquid onto the pad as she sits on the loo stripped from the waist down,
Also hate the ad where two yoga women show us their downward dog, plus the one where the woman exclaims 'I'm letting it all go'
Another one that grates is the ad for Canesten where a woman points with a stick at a diagram for where the product should be placed,
Why this type of advertising is aimed specifically at women I don't know...only that other adverts are more discreet and don't mock,

And I do find amusement in thinking an alien who only ever watched TV ads to learn about us would be surprised to find all our households aren't ethnically mixed or gay

Isn't that the truth ...😂

I've just seen the Bold advert where the girl comes home from school. There's nothing to say she's been bullied, she's just a bit frazzled after a day at school - I used to come home like that and I was the teacher! The whole thing is a bit odd though.

Mochudubh · 19/06/2023 15:48

The life insurance one where the woman is hiding from her annoying grand-daughter and phones to get a quote. She says "I'm 50 and a non-smoker". The actress is clearly older than 50, why not just cast someone who looks 50 or change the script to say she's 60 or whatever.

There're 2 radio ads that I have to mute every time they come on.

2 blokes speaking "urban English" talking about takeaways "would make your burger be'aah? Cheese. Nah, even be'aah". I think it's for Diet Coke or something.

The bingo ad where the guy repeats random words 5 times and the last one is always tartan, tartan, tartan, tartan, tartan. Aargh.
