Nothing is touching my hayfever!

This year is mad, and I’m not functioning. Aibu to not have a clue how to cope.
lots of tablets, nasal sprays, eye drops and I’m still streaming. I can barely work and I think my sinuses are a mess too now. I can’t sleep.
for the natural remedies, my neighbour keeps bees and we always have local honey.
I shower off, everything. It’s like it so systemic there’s no blip

I take 2x -180 tablets but that's dosage that the doctor prescribed me.

That’s also what I take

You may think I'm crazy but intermittent fasting has sorted mine out. I eat my last meal of the day at around 7pm, skip breakfast the following day then eat at lunchtime. I try not to eat after 8pm. So it's 16 to 17 hours without food an 8 hour eating window.

There's some research online if you want to google.

For me it’s sugar that makes it worse (and alcoholic). Maybe fasting/ not eating sugar have a similar blood sugar impact?

Anyone else coughing with it? I think it's coming from my nose hitting my throat causing the constant cough but I genuinely am pissed off at it now fenofexidene isn't touching it I take ceterizene and loratadine too on bad days plus nasel spray it works then stops and the cough begins

I’m coughing, and at points wheezing. I had a terrifying moment driving last week. My lips suddenly felt tingly and my nose blocked, I was wheezing out of breathe. It felt like I couldn’t get air in, and lips where swollen.

My dc is suffering more than usual this year as well.

Adarajames · 17/06/2023 13:47

It does seems to be a particularly bad year for many people, although unusually mine isn’t too bad; but I’ve been invigilating exams for past few weeks, and some of the poor kids there have been suffering really badly (and the constant sniffing has been driving me crazy!)

Oblomov23 · 17/06/2023 15:06

Ds1 is in boots buying his stuff now. Dh has it this year for the first time.

Thinkerbell78 · 18/06/2023 08:52

DD12 has it first time this year. Only started a couple of weeks ago but was mainly stuffed nose morning and evening but it is really bad in the last 2/3 days so just started the Loratadine. It is mainly her nose, sneezing, runny/block nose and she complained about her throat yesterday.

I hope it goes away soon.

Thinkerbell78 · 18/06/2023 08:57

Forgive my ignorance? Is this only in certain countries? I didn’t grow up here and only heard from Hay Fever when I came to the UK. There were other allergies though , I lived near the Ecuator

Ineedwinenow · 16/06/2023 11:32

Get the injection! I’ve had it this year for the first time and it’s life changing! Hayfever used to destroy my life for a big chunk of the year as even prescription meds wouldn’t work ( I have asthma and other allergies too) but this year since I’ve had the injection I genuinely feel like my life has changed! my injection was steroid based and I honestly can’t begin to explain how much it’s helped me! It was £40 and lasts apparently up to 16-18 weeks ( depending on your body and symptoms )

Can you just go to the chemist for it or does it have ti be prescribed?

It's pollen allergy, especially grass. Some places have low pollen count so don't have it as much

RSintes · 18/06/2023 09:07

Fenofexadine 180mg
Piriton
Sudafed nose spray to destuff
Vicks around nose and on chest at bedtime
Wine. Lots of wine.

RSintes · 18/06/2023 09:12

Ok so the wine bit was a partial joke as wine seems to encourage symptoms.

However when all else fails and you're feeling rough then why not...!

In the summer I also drop milk from my coffee as I read somewhere (maybe on MN?) that dairy exacerbates symptoms.
Going milk free in coffee etc does to help a little bit.

GP said I can have up to 4 of the higher strength fexofenadine a day

I’m not sure if pharmacies do it I’m afraid, I googled the injection In my area and it was done in a small clinic but I’ve heard some beauticians ??? Weirdly do it but mine as I said was a clinic where they do lots of different injections for travel etc..

Thank you. I hope it stops soon.

My friend is also suffering for the first time this year but she finds relief with Loratadine; hope it works for DD as she only stated yesterday; wish I had started it earlier but it wasn’t too bad and I wasn’t entirely sure it was hay fever.

Shopper727 · 18/06/2023 09:45

I was finding loratadine was making me sleep constantly and I felt rotten after so got script for fenofexadine and it does kinda work, also have an avamys inhaler and eye drops. However getting a lot of break though this year feel crap tbh. Thought about the jag though if it helps would be great as symptoms just make me feel awful. I’m on 180mg of feno one per day is that the max I can take

Londonnight · 18/06/2023 09:50

@Ineedwinenow Could you send me a link please. My son lives in Derby, he is really suffering this year with hayfever and nothing is touching it.

He has come home from uni for a couple of week [ not far from Derby ] and I live rurally and his hay fever is even worse! Many thanks

motherofawhirlwind · 18/06/2023 10:10

I'm currently taking 180mg of Fexofenadine (by cutting 120mg tablets in half) as found private GP notes and that's what they asked to be prescribed but NHS GP wrote the script for 120mg 🙄 but wondering if 120mg morning and night would be allowed..... Will speak to the GP and see what they say.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 18/06/2023 10:26

@UnfortunateTypo what air filter do you have please?

I've had a couple of summers the same as you. The key for me has been to experiment with different antihistamines, because they all have different active ingredients. The one I've ended up with is cetirizine hydrochloride. The others do nothing. Sunglasses and a hat when outside as well.

But really, the best thing for me is to start with a antihistamine dose early. I start taking them every day in March, and go through until the end of September. That way you have a good level of it your system by the time it gets bad. Of course, that won't help you now though! But it's something to consider for the future.

Maloneyb · 18/06/2023 12:02

warning- don’t jump down my throat as I’m not an anti vaxxer but apparently (I have heard from multiple people) people are putting the worst Hayfever season yet down to the covid vaccines!
I’m suffering worse than I ever had this year and I had 3 jabs. I hope it’s not true but I don’t know what to believe anymore

ChristmasJumpers · 18/06/2023 12:04

Is fexofenadine working for people? I already take it for hives and I have awful hayfever that the fexofenadine doesn't seem to touch! This is the first year I've ever had hayfever, it sucks

It's the weather, not the vaccines

I also thought this due to the early summer we’re getting 😅

MeeThree · 18/06/2023 12:14

I'm taking Fexofenadine in the morning, Nasonex, opticrom, ventolin and a piriton at night if really bad and that all seems to be working fingers crossed
