Recently remortgaged and the massive rate rise got us thinking. Made me wonder - what is the average people owe? Yes it depends on area/value/when bought etc. But to make it simple I'd be interested in
A) how much owed
B) your age

I'll go first! We owe £115k and I'm 31.

Just over £200,000 - am 51 & paying on my own after divorcing and buying a new home.
Feel very lucky to have been able to buy on my own but am rather overwhelmed at the amount, and 22 years of payments still to go at my age.
Jealous of all those who are finished!

150k think it's around 50% LTV now it's finished. Still on a low rate so no interest in over paying might pay a good percentage off it when we remortgage in 4 years.

2kids2catsnolife · 14/06/2023 18:36

When I was 33 it was 200k. But we've obviously moved since then!

£68k on a £900k house. Age 34. Largely bought by inheritances.

RunningUpThatMill · 14/06/2023 19:02

32k, age 43. 2-bed semi worth approx £160k - obviously not London 🤣. Have the savings to pay it off. Fixed rate ends at the end of this year, and to be honest, with calculations at the current interest rates, I'm not that fussed to pay it off, fortunately.

RunningUpThatMill · 14/06/2023 19:04

Shit, I'm 42.
