To hate DH playing video games in bed with me next to him??

Just that really.

DH plays his Switch next to me in bed at bedtime. He turns down the sound if I ask (he does huff about it) and sometimes will put headphones on if I say the weird zapping sounds are keeping me up...but even with no sound on it annoys me so much. I can still hear the buttons and him sighing if he loses or whatever.

I get the ick.

He says I'm being very unreasonable. I like to read and he says its the same and im being unfair. I just find it so irritating.

AIBU?

You've reached the contempt stage. IME there's not much coming back from it.

I mean
That just sounds like him finding a way to relax. Nothing bad about that. Finding it icky is a you problem tbh.

It's the other stuff that's the problem. Like not giving you the attention you want.

Why is that men's ways of relaxing often end up leaving stuff for the woman to do or adapt too?

Weird that.

EconomyClassRockstar · 14/06/2023 23:48

This is where you have a proper talk and both agree to keep the bedroom as a sanctuary and gaming etc be kept in another room/living room/where the tv is. But I'm quite anal about how quiet and cool I want our bed to be before I get in it as that's how I sleep better. I blame it on years of having children migrating into our bed and now I'm like, "This is our space! Nothing else is coming in!" 😀

Playing video games and watching videos isn't exclusively male

OP reads in bed which DH has to adapt to too

MN loves to reach and make things about men being sexist

fridaynight1 · 15/06/2023 02:12

I wouldn't bother me. I read in bed and DH goes on tik tok. I have no idea why he finds tik tok remotely interesting but it keeps him amused and makes him smile. I like to read, I don't think he's ever read a book in his life. We are different. and like different things. Surely it's a good thing that when you are together, he feels comfortable doing his gaming? I would be more worried if he was secretive about it. Which I think he might be driven to if you continue to make him feel bad.

Have you watched Russell Brand lately?

I told DH he was spending his time listening to a narcissistic conspiracy theorist.

He asked what he should be listening to instead

"Woman's Hour" I told him.

Time to bury him under the patio.

Completely unacceptable behaviour from anyone of any age who shares a bedroom. And you've got the ick because you feel like you're sharing your bedroom with a 15 year old boy.

PegEggg · 14/06/2023 20:40

He's outdone himself.

Tonight he started gaming at 8pm. But this time he is double screening. Video game on one screen and Russell Brand's YouTube channel on the other.

It's not the ick. It's full blown vomit in my mouth at this stage.

Ugh. I'm sorry.

You know this marriage is done, right? The sooner you rip off the plaster and tell him you want to divorce, the sooner you can start to move forward with your life.

End your marriage in a way that doesn't involve a shovel and you serving a life sentence in prison.

I'm assuming you missed OPs other posts and didn't read the thread properly.

She clearly states he goes to bed and leaves her with little jobs etc.

Does she sit and read when there's stuff left to do and expects him to do it? Does he piss off to bed at 8pm and leaves OP to it?

TBF it was quite the drip feed. Or more like a flood.

I've commented several times on OP's update so I think you haven't read the whole thread tbh

She doesn't specify what those jobs are. A quick whizz round with the hoover or whatever is hardly leaving her every job...

I can't think of anything worse than listening to Women's Hour. Nor would I particularly listen to Russell Brand.

Doesn't stop people liking them

That's actually sad you feel that way about him. Break up with him then?

Rather than pure foaming at the mouth because he's watching Youtube videos and playing his switch?

PegEggg · 15/06/2023 17:27

@AnObserverInThisDarkWorld @begaydocrime42 I'm just messing about. Of course I didn't tell him to listen to Woman's hour. Hahaha! People do like different things. I like being overly dramatic on forum based websites. You like defending random men you've never met and never will do.

OP posts:
piedbeauty · 15/06/2023 18:25

Sounds like you don't respect him any more, so the relationship is dead in the water.

Btw reading is NOTHING like gaming in bed. Yanbu about that.

But I bet that if the rest of the relationship was better, you wouldn't mind so much.

Ha ha! @Sigmama Ryan Gosling could be going down on me for 3 hours in the marital bed and Zelda would still be holding my husband's full attention.

Seems like there’s a reason for that given your attitude towards him on this thread.
