To sneak alcohol into a concert ?

willwetalkinthemorning · 10/06/2023 12:38

Going to a concert tonight in a large stadium
Prices are extortionate
Your looking at £10 for a gin
I have a foldable wine bottle holder which I plan on putting gin in and putting it in back of jeans
Buying lemonade from inside with a glass than adding my own gin
Would you do it ?

My dd was at a festival a few weeks ago and the most common way to smuggle drink in was in breast milk pouches in your bra, wear a bigger bra that's quite padded!

TooOldForThisNonsense · 10/06/2023 13:26

YABU

It won’t kill you not to drink for a night. Alcohol prices at gigs are so high because drunk people at gigs are a pain in the arse, to try and put them off.

Birthdayboy · 10/06/2023 13:27

I went to the O2 recently and didn't get searched at all, not even my small handbag.

It was mega busy though and people were getting searched, might have been random checks but most people didn't.

You can try but may loose it 😁

That's genius

That’s incorrect. All drinks are overpriced because there’s no choice & they can inflate their margin. It’s purely profiteering.

Urgh, imagine pulling out
a sweaty pouch from your bra and drinking from it 🤮

My own tits, my own sweat and I'm not licking the outside of the pouch

Who said I can't enjoy the concert without a drink ?
I want a drink and to dance with my friends at the concert -without lining the stadiums pocket for overpriced drinks (it's not any deeper than that)
I think it's a rip off

I'm with you Op - sneak it in if you can as the inflated prices are ridiculous! Enjoy the concert!

Confusion101 · 10/06/2023 13:34

You are absolutely not being unreasonable! Give it a go. Loads will be trying it. If you get caught, shit, if you don't, happy days! Enjoy the concert!

aaratty · 10/06/2023 13:34

I don't believe drinks are overpriced to put people off -it's purely for money
What's the reason for paying £9 for a crappy burger or £7 for some chips ?
Weight watchers
It's purely greed

Back when I drank I had fake resealable tampons I got somewhere online. They had a little flask (enough for a double) in them and you just seal the top, could take a few into places without arousing suspicion at all, even if they looked at them.

I've also seen bangles, hairbrushes, scruchies with zips that could hold a couple of miniatures, and various hats, bags with fake lining, and clothing specifically for smuggling drink into places.

MN is really weird about alcohol, anything more than a whiff of babysham every other Christmas means you're an alcoholic.

aaratty · 10/06/2023 13:35

I've changed my name also

@gingercat02 pink ,I was at beyonce last week and there was no searches on body just bag
I'm hoping it's the same for pink

It’s absolutely crazy they don’t search everyone, with terrorist attacks going on at concerts. It’s not a good thing they don’t do it.

No.. Mumsnet isn't anything. Certainly not a hive mind. It's a forum and opinions differ, as they do on here.

A pp mentioned a bracelet before, never heard of them but again, genius! The sort of tat i wear too. Just ordered 2 (other ones for a pal) will come in handy for a few nights out coming up 😃

Moomoola · 10/06/2023 13:41

Capri sun packets in your bra! Genius!
absolutely go for it, it’s half the fun and yes, they are totally profiteering.
my mate, year ago started a trendy bar for this very reason. I think lager wholesale was about 13 p a pint and he’d sell it at £3.50 or so ( it WAS years ago) . Now a millionaire, sigh.
Not a drink, but DD paid £40 for some torch piece of tat to wave at a stadium gig. 😳

Scalottia · 10/06/2023 13:42

If you can afford tickets to Pink and Beyonce, you can afford the gin. Don't be ridiculous OP. YABU.

Shapeofme · 10/06/2023 13:44

Thats exactly what I do too!🍻

EdinaCrump · 10/06/2023 13:44

The drink prices are not a rip-off, they are part of the means by which these events get funded. They could alternatively add £50 to the price of every ticket and charge normal pub prices for drinks. Would you prefer that?

But you do you, I know people who take drink flasks into gigs - I just buy my drinks there or get loaded up on cocktails beforehand :)

HadEnoughOfBears · 10/06/2023 13:45

LauraNorda · 10/06/2023 12:46

Are you an alcoholic? Can you really not take a drink for a few hours?

I see Mumsnet at its best.

Maireas · 10/06/2023 13:46

You could always tuck your arms into your t-shirt and wear hollow prosthetic arms filled with gin. Or a top hat with a bag of miniatures.
Or pretend you're pregnant and wear a moon bump filled with vodka.

Cosycover · 10/06/2023 13:46

I use my bra too. Little plastic refillable bottles that lie flat.

donquixotedelamancha · 10/06/2023 13:47

Hintofreality · 10/06/2023 12:44

Scruff behaviour, just drink what you can afford.

What an unpleasant snob. Poor people are just as entitled to a drink as wealthy.

When companies use a forced monopoly to raise prices I think it's sensible of consumers to circumvent their greed.

ScientificallyProcessed · 10/06/2023 13:48

I went to see Harry Styles 2 weeks ago and could have sneaked in anything (although I didn't on that occasion) and sneaked vodka in to the Radio 1 Big Weekend festival although they were so disinterested that on the second day I just put a 1/2 bottle on my handbag and didn't 'sneak' at all.

Obels · 10/06/2023 13:49

You are not likely to get it past security. This really only works in places like pubs and bars where you don't get strong security.
