Noises I do not wish to hear

My downstairs neighbour snoring. We'll anybody snoring really but why is he so loud it wakes me up. I can't bear it! Ditto his very loud television. He must be deaf to have the volume up so loud but I don't want to hear it above my own TV or music or whatever. Also the kids across the Street kicking a ball against the wall/garage/fence. I'm in a very bad mood today & the noise is constant. I can't stand it. Aibu?? Do I have misophonia?

I have a bird bath, a big plant saucer on a pile of bricks on a table, a large ceramic bird feeder filled with water on tnother pile of bricks on the lawn, and 2 ceramic saucers on the ground, plus a small one with a mix of earth and water by the bees houses as they use it to plug the holes. The ones on the ground are for hedghogs and foxes, the one on the bricks on the grass is for the robins as they like it, and the squirrels who like to drink from it. Pigeons bathe in the others and corvids soak their food in them.

I hope you get your garden and bird bath soon thry can give you much joy.

I love this so much. You have turned my horrible moany post into a lovely post. Just makes me realise how much I miss nature and a garden. Soon though....

Of course. They prefer WhatsApp though, because it's green.

I'm surprised the parakeets are not using Twitter.

I'm surprised the parakeets are not using Twitter.

They prefer something a bit more private, too much parroting and mynah squabbles on Twitter.

PerrinAybara · 06/06/2023 22:48

The cats hacking up a furball along with most of their dinner.

The happy chirrup of a cat bringing a mouse through the cat flap.

I moan a lot. Can't enjoy the garden most of the time due to constant building works, people buying perfectly good houses, knocking them down and re-building them, awful screeching high pitched children that make my ears bleed and garden people (I can't call them gardeners as they have no idea) with industrial volume equipment and ear defenders thundering about. Such selfish people here, entitled, thoughtless and cliquey.

However, the creatures I see and watch and feed are the reason I am still here and not somewhere nice.

Plan your new garden and what you want in it, plants, trees, benches, birdbaths, and look forward to enjoying them.

(Splashing sounds) MOOOOOOOOOMMMMM HEEEEELLLPPPP

Also my backyard breeder neighbours having a dog fight what's more unnerving is the silence since......what happened to all those puppies? 🙁

The sound of sirens and crackling noises when another neighbours fire gets out of control 😳 and the tree starts to smoulder

The noise that comes from whatever shite my DSs play from their phones when in the shower - podcasts, YouTube rubbish - it's pitched at a level I can't hear the actual content so it's just REALLY LOUD NOISE, usually when I am trying to sleep.

Ridiculously loud motor bikes roaring past, I literally jump out of my skin, I hate them.

Radios that are not tuned in properly - experienced this recently in a GP surgery waiting room and came out feeling more ill than when I went in.

I use earbuds in the shower to avoid early morning tinny noises. £10 pair off Amazon. Waterproof.

Groutyonehereagain · 06/06/2023 22:56

Other people’s music. As soon as it gets warmer, our neighbours play music outside. It drives me NUTS.

Lidlpopdrinker · 06/06/2023 23:08

Around here it’s a constant cacophony of peoples’ untrained aggressive yapping dogs. Incessant yapping, all the bloody time. There’s one particular Chihuahua that sounds like it’s got a smoker’s cough. It’s a right vicious little fucker, growls and snarls at anybody it passes. I’d like to dropkick the little cunt.

SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors · 06/06/2023 23:09

Oh god, I thought one of my neighbours might comment... I've got terrible IBS at the moment 😖They've just put their place on the market and I'm a bit paranoid I might be the reason why.

Larner · 06/06/2023 23:14

Leaf blowers.

I can put up with a lot of noise but leaf blowers really piss me off. I think it's because it's so very loud while being so very pointless. All that racket, just to move the leaves elsewhere. Not to sweep them up and compost them. Not to vaporise them. Not to burn them. Just to have them still on the ground but in a slightly different place.

Blinky21 · 06/06/2023 23:17

Our neighbour's kid plays football inside, constant thud on the shared wall. I also used to have a neighbour with a swannee whistle, which was both amusing and irritating

mynameiscalypso · 06/06/2023 18:32

Anybody having sex.

I agree with this. Especially when you are having a multigenerational family trip in a nice hotel… 😱

CarpetSlipper · 06/06/2023 23:56

Mouth noises. Loud chewing, loud nail biting (gross), snorting, sucking, tutting, snoring etc. Can’t stand it!
I’m fairly tolerant of most other noise but for some reason loud mouth noises absolutely repulse me.

Safxxx · 07/06/2023 00:13

Get yourself some ear plugs it will help with your sleep trust me. My hubby used to hate any loud noise at night as he had early shifts, he bought some disposable ear plugs and slept like a baby 😊💕

MoonsHaunted · 07/06/2023 00:17

There are car garages/showrooms near our street. Sometimes a fucking car alarm starts going off just as I’m dropping off to sleep. Then it stops. Then starts again a few seconds later. and so on.

It gives me the absolute rage to the point where I need to take propranolol to calm my racing heart.

LordSalem · 07/06/2023 00:17

Scousers on buses/in public drawling "fuccck this fuccck thattt and fuccck the other". In the street walking along shouting expletives because they have no other volume level (or wider vocabulary) when excited. DAILY.
Getting off a bus with DD the other day, a topless male who'd made the whole bus listen to his vile diatribe for ages then stood right behind me and did a huge burp right down my ear.
I hate living here. And I've never lived anywhere else. No wonder I grind my teeth.
Wonder if I'd hate people less if I grew up somewhere else. Y'know in an imaginary place where people know how to behave like decent human beings. Don’t get me started on the teenagers/preteens terrorising everyone while wearing balaclavas.
Hell is other people.

CallieQ · 07/06/2023 01:18

It's not just Scousers who swear!
Scousist

Nat6999 · 07/06/2023 01:55

My old upstairs neighbour shagging her clients, she was a working prositute & I heard every moan, groan & orgasm, it was like living a porn film for the blind.

WandaWonder · 07/06/2023 02:54

There a noise I hear tv presenters make similar to the noise some people make like they have something stuck in their teeth or a small piece of food chewing around and talking at the same time

Plus lick smacking

WandaWonder · 07/06/2023 02:56

Also kids doing that ear piecing scream/squeal

Catsmere · 07/06/2023 03:26

YANBU. I don’t want to hear anything from any neighbours. Doesn’t matter if it’s music or a program I like, I don’t want their choice of entertainment imposed on me in my home.

Toomanysquishmallows · 07/06/2023 06:26

My drunken upstairs neighbour in the garden shouting into his phone on loudspeaker! He has it turned up so high , I can hear the person on the other end !
