Need to pick tiles before by tomorrow morning

Builder is ordering tiles tomorrow and I cannot make my mind up. Stomach is in knots. Selling the house and don't want to knock value off.

Don't LOVE the marble effect look anymore but leaning towards it as it means not having to worry about matching walls with floors.

Thoughts?? I'm scared the marble fad is over and is looking dated?

Very full on marble is my first thought

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 04/06/2023 17:31

That first photo is making me twitchy as the tiles don't line up with the pattern. Is that how it would actually look as that would drive me crazy!

Tileda · 04/06/2023 17:32

I agree with you @Thetowelsareallwrong but was planning on breaking up with accessories

Yes they won't line up, not an issue for me personally. DP doesn't like for this exact reason but he offered beige tiles (which we are replacing)

It is very full on.
I prefer the first. But I would go for something more neutral and dull if I was selling.

Nordicrain · 04/06/2023 17:33

I think it will look dated quick.

We recently did our bathrooms and did a vertically stacked rectangular tile. Similar to this:

We went for white in both bathrooms, with a moss green backwall in the shower in the ensuite.

White Vertical Stacked Shower Wall Tiles - Modern - Bathroom

Modern shower features white vertical stacked wall tiles accented with a brushed gold shower kit and shower niche, a brushed gold rainfall shower head, honed black marble staggered floor tiles and a clear partition.

I've just been through this with my own bathroom. It's a nightmare, I hate that we have so much choice these days. Anyway if you're selling, why are you doing the bathroom? People like their own thing. If you need to do I'd go for the beige neutral spa look, for style likely to have the most fans.

Peacepudding · 04/06/2023 17:34

Fair enough if that was what you wanted for your own bathroom, but I would not choose that if you're selling.

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/06/2023 17:34

If you don’t love marble then don’t have marble. What do you like? You can get tiles in all kinds of effects, including wood and stone for floors - the floor doesn’t need to match the walls.

GoodChat · 04/06/2023 17:34

I dont like that they are so odd and random.

Why are these your only choices?

fuckmyuteruslining · 04/06/2023 17:35

I would go with something plainer and cheaper!

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/06/2023 17:36

Oh, you’re selling. Go for something plain and inoffensive that people can jazz up with their own accessories.

Tileda · 04/06/2023 17:36

Honestly I just wanted to pick a stone effect so I could put it on the walls and floors. Not having to worry about matching styles, pattern breaks, borders etc.

Bathroom had to come out as it was damaged.

Sounds nice

@Nordicrain do like the vertical metro look.

What did you do on the floor?

Plain white tiles (would avoid metro style) and a plain floor are your best bet

Blingstar · 04/06/2023 17:42

I would also go with plain white tiles. I did my flat up nearly 20 years ago and it still looks good and hasn't dated. At least any towel colours go with it.

Tileda · 04/06/2023 17:42

Better? Prob wouldn't lay in brick pattern

Pick a colour you like - I’d avoid grey as it will be dated now - choose two of the same colour - let me find a pick

Tileda · 04/06/2023 17:47

Everything is grey now!

Like the tiles in the images attached also. Can definitely dress the bathroom with posh looking accessories for a bit of glam.

The hours I've wasted in all the big shops and I'm still none the wiser.

For me that one is better. It's not so in your face.

No to grey, just no, it's so utterly done to death now
