Need to pick tiles before by tomorrow morning

Builder is ordering tiles tomorrow and I cannot make my mind up. Stomach is in knots. Selling the house and don't want to knock value off.

Don't LOVE the marble effect look anymore but leaning towards it as it means not having to worry about matching walls with floors.

Thoughts?? I'm scared the marble fad is over and is looking dated?

here are some "in progress" photos of ours, so you can see the floor with the white tiles. Don't look at the detailing as they were unfinished (we had huge issues with the installers and the finishing was one of the issues), but will give you an idea of the combination. Once finished off and accessorised they don't look remotely clinical.

We used these Fusion light grey porcelain tiles and are very happy with them. They come in other colours too. www.mandarinstone.com/product/fusion-light-grey-matt-porcelain/

@Nordicrain thats nice.

I'd saved a similar style on Instagram.

Not the marble if you’re selling. I do like the white subway tiles whichever way you lay them and making different patterns in the same room is fun

Tileda · 04/06/2023 18:39

Just had a wee cry. First World problems, I know but being back on Pinterest looking up white tiles just made me feel like all those hours in topps tiles, wicked etc was a complete waste of time and energy.

For the poster who asked, house in a 4 bed 70s detached on a small cul-de-sac. Hoping to to get 800k. Whole house should be in perfect nick by the time it goes on sale.

Bathroom is not overly dark.

@Mooserp I do like this!

There's such conflicting views on whether a small tile is right or wrong for a smallish bathroom. Worried too many breaks will distract the eye!

We have a very healthy budget of £30/m2 from insurance but still struggling.

Better? Prob wouldn't lay in brick pattern

I think this is a lot better and although personally I would still go plainer/white/neutral, you know best what will fit with the style of the rest of your house. I would avoid metro tiles, think these are dated now.

Tileda · 04/06/2023 18:45

The main thing is, make them matt.

yesalos prefer a tactile, matt tile. Scared of people slipping

Not small tiles!
Large ones - less grout less mould, less cleaning
Don't spend £££ I'd you're selling
You won't recoup it

That's very similar to what we did in our bathroom about 6/7 years ago, in the brick pattern as well. It still looks fab.
We have black tiles with a bit of glitter in them on the floor but we have a very small bathroom upstairs.

HopeAndStrength · 04/06/2023 18:47

Here's a photo of ours, they are large square matt tiles

House is basically this. Keeping things neutral with warm white walls and very light cream carpet upstairs, natural wood downstairs (original to house)

Honestly I just wanted to pick a stone effect so I could put it on the walls and floors. Not having to worry about matching styles, pattern breaks, borders etc.

Do that

Tileda · 04/06/2023 18:50

@HopeAndStrength

Really like your tiles, prob what I would go for as noone can really object. Or so i thought, apparently some people really are not fans of grey. Was thinking of doing similar. From top to bottom.

What is the light like in your bathroom?

May I ask where you bought your grey tiles?

Thanks, we have decent natural light in the bathroom from a south facing window.

MuttsNutts · 04/06/2023 18:59

You probably won’t want to hear this if you have to choose by the morning but I would really advise against buying any online without seeing them in person. I ordered samples for my bathroom and some I thought I would love were actually awful and vice versa.

I suppose not so much of an issue if you’re selling but you appear to care a lot that it looks right.

While I’m here, I hate the beige look, grey slightly less, but white would be my choice.

Also, keeping shiny looking clean is a full time job. Every smudge shows!!

Tileda · 04/06/2023 19:28

I've never been a fan of dark tiles. Grew up with an elderly grandfather in the house who had accidents...

Will just have to go into topp tiles tomorrow I guess and not leave until I've chosen something. Can't say I'm impressed with their selection

@GoodChat

May I ask where you bought your grey tiles?

We got our bathroom fitted by a full service company but I have found the feature tiles www.unbeatablebathrooms.co.uk/products/cipriani-rlv-mix-303-613-floor-tile?variant=41288964178074

The plain tiles are called Portland Grey

Mooserp · 04/06/2023 20:35

Are there any other tile shops near you?

Mooserp · 04/06/2023 20:50

What about these? https://www.porcelanosa.com/uk/madagascar-blanco-25x44-3

Muncha · 04/06/2023 20:57

I don't like the stacked ones and prefer big tiles in a bathroom due to grouting.

Go for big page ones that can be dressed up with accessories. Don't overthink it.
