Yanbu - yes they do
Yabu - no they don't
It's not really a aibu, I just put that in to enable a vote.
My kids share a room on holiday, I just wonder a little if this is still OK? I think it is.

I don't have m/f teenage children, but if I did I'd be happy for them to share on holiday (assuming there is no reason for concern).

salamithumbs · 04/06/2023 12:16

Mine aren't teenagers yet but I shared with my brother the odd time if we were staying with my grandparents or somewhere with limited space, never thought anything of it!

TheYear2000 · 04/06/2023 12:17

I always did as a teen, twin room, no problem.

ElfDragon · 04/06/2023 12:19

No.

I have 2 teens (both girls), who won’t share - both have ASD and can’t share space. And 1 pre teen boy.

holidays are prohibitively expensive, as need 3 bedrooms plus sofa bed at a minimum.

W0tnow · 04/06/2023 12:19

Yes. They’re teenagers. At a pinch, they’ve shared a bed, along with ‘you smell’ insults and a pillow wall.

dementedpixie · 04/06/2023 12:21

We hire a villa for holidays these days and that means everyone gets their own bedroom. Usually have multiple bathrooms too

CalistoNoSolo · 04/06/2023 12:21

No. I won't share so don't expect anyone else to do so. Age is irrelevant.

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/06/2023 12:21

No. When younger all in together, but once a bit older.

wowie69 · 04/06/2023 12:23

Of course it's fine. My two m/f would happily share one now if they came away with us (in their 20's)

onlythe · 04/06/2023 12:26

I think it's fine especially if you couldn't afford the holiday otherwise.

Lightningrain · 04/06/2023 12:27

I shared on holidays with my brother in a twin room and we didn’t have an issue with it.

I think if they get on reasonably well and they don’t have a problem save yourself some money.

chesterlestreet · 04/06/2023 12:29

Mine (late teens) will share on holiday but would prefer not to. However They regularly stay in mixed rooms in hostels, with friends after parties and if they want us to pay for the holiday that is the deal

massistar · 04/06/2023 12:31

Yes mine do and are happy to do so.

Bluestoat · 04/06/2023 12:31

we did static carvan holidays as a family and me and my brother shared a tiny twin room till we were about 14/16 then he slept in the living room on a sofa bed in the living room bit. He wasn’t bothered!

EleMar · 04/06/2023 12:32

I grew up sharing a room with my brother until he moved out (I think I was 12-13 when he moved out, he was 19-20). Obviously I would have preferred my own space, but otherwise it was not really an issue?

MaxwellCat · 04/06/2023 12:32

Why did you take off the vote button if you want people to vote?

Delphium · 04/06/2023 12:33

Mine (2xm 1xf) have always shared a room even though older two are now officially adults. It’s prohibitively expensive otherwise, also they have lots of fun berating each other for stinky farts etc. it’s all part of the holiday experience.

I'm on my phone, I didn't mean to.

I shared with my brother on holiday up to about 12 then my parents booked places with a room for each of us.

Crochetpenguin · 04/06/2023 12:59

Yes. Always shared up until late teens when we stopped going on holiday with parents. We just used to change in bathroom and have a rule that you didn't enter bathroom if door was closed. Normally twin beds though.

Twilightstarbright · 04/06/2023 13:01

I shared a room with my brother until my early 20s. We didn’t get changed in front of each other and neither of us were bothered. I’d share a twin room with him now if I needed to.

Clymene · 04/06/2023 13:04

No. A close friend was sexually abused by her older brother as they shared a room so I'd never do it.

namechanged221 · 04/06/2023 13:04

YANBU

Ideally they have their own room but sometimes they share....

titchy · 04/06/2023 13:05

Ours do - both early 20s. Get changed in bathroom. Share each others room when they visit each other too (student houses).

2chocolateoranges · 04/06/2023 13:07

We went on our last family holiday abroad last year(had been booked for 2020 and covid hit) and our 20 yr old (m)and 18 yr old (f) shared.

however we have had plenty of caravan holidays and they have had their own room since being 8 and 10 S the rooms aren’t very big.
