To contact to the police?

Hello

Honest opinions please...

So, a few hours ago I took my son to the park, he needed to go to the toilet so I allowed him to to use a bush, I understand that some people might find this a little unreasonable of me, and by no means do I want him to believe it's acceptable to do this.

As we were carrying on with our journey I was approached by a lady who went to say that it's wrong and I should make him use the toilet and people like me shouldn't be allowed to have children, I told my son to ride his scooter as I tried to ignore her then asked her politely if she could stop, because she was raising her voice and drawing attention.

She even pointed out to another lady what I had just let my son do, the ladies response was to just ignore her and a comment about she regularly "picks on people in the park, and can become aggressive"

I thanked the lady and continued to walk, she just wouldn't stop, so I got my phone out and started recording her then to my disbelieve she spat towards me, luckily a man then got involved.

I'm still shaken up about the whole situation, and the fact that she spat towards me (it didn't touch me)

Would it be unreasonable for me to contact the police and report her?

I grew up in the country and would often spend all day scampering around in the woods, building camps etc. - The thought that I would go home every time I needed to pee was absurd. I will be teaching my daughter how to wild wee because it's a useful skill and I don't want her to be tied to a toilet when she's out having fun in nature. If you're uptight about having to use a loo every time then so will your child be. Live a little! Pee in a fucking bush!

MrsAnon6 · 03/06/2023 21:50

I wouldn't call the police. It won't count as an assault if the spit didn't land on you and if you don't know the woman and there's no CCTV ETC there's little they can do. They're likely already stretched to breaking point with it being a Saturday night as well.

@Billyho

So how do you deal with that?

That's not up to me, but if someone spits at me in a park you can bet your life I am reporting them.

How do you tell a schizophrenic, to not be paranoid?

I'm not sure why you think I have suggested you do?

People with severe MH issues don’t act rationally, they do not use it as an excuse, they can’t help it.

educate yourself!!

How about you stop ranting about something I didn't say and move on?

LuvSmallDogs · 03/06/2023 22:05

Doubt the police will do much, just take comfort in the fact that one day she'll spit at the wrong person and get a good slap!

Exactly. I'm 53 and walk a lot in the countryside. I wee in a bush whenever I want, try to make sure nobody can see but it does no harm at all. I always encouraged my now teenage sons to wee in the wild when they were growing up.

How about you stop saying ridiculous things like having MH issues doesn’t excuse bad behaviour..,

nite nite! Move on and go to bed!

I didn't say this.

I said it doesn't give people a pass to assist others, and it doesn't. Or are you of the opinion it's fine for those with mental health conditions to hurt others?

Thought not.

You have taken what I said absolutely incorrectly.

So how would you deal with it? And how was OP hurt?

highlandspooce · 03/06/2023 22:30

So how would you deal with it? And how was OP hurt?

From my POV of someone assaulted me I would report it. That's the extend of my dealing with it because I am not a health professional involved in that persons care.

OP wasn't hurt but the result of being assaulted often does end in hurt, so I'm sure you can se right was talking more generally there.

I'm not quite sure what your angle is tbh. It's not ok to assault other people no matter what the reason is.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/06/2023 22:30

Ewww the dirty vulgar bitch spitting like a Camel. I assume you’ve wiped it off you but DNA can be obtained from spit.

fguuh · 03/06/2023 23:12

I'd report it, especially as it sounds like she has form.

Obviously it's preferable to use a toilet but the bush is definitely better than having a child wet themselves.

Read the op

It didn't hit her?

tallcypowder · 03/06/2023 23:33

I would log it with 101.

How was she assaulted?

cryinglaughing · 04/06/2023 07:18

Report it online.

I reported a man who stopped and had a crap on my driveway online.
I was able to attach a photo of him and his car reg.

It is about 3 years now and the police still haven't contacted me but he absolutely should have had his disgusting behaviour looked into.
When I confronted him, he said he was foreign, which I felt was rather disingenuous of him. Foreign people know what is right and wrong 🤷🏻

WandaWonder · 04/06/2023 07:20

If the police were called eversingle time a,person was upset they would not have any time to actually police

So no I wouldn't

heartsinvisiblefury · 04/06/2023 07:21

Yes, report it. She spat in your face. That's not acceptable.

She wouldn't be reporting being upset, she'd be reporting being spat at. Very different.

GreenWheat · 04/06/2023 07:27

You had an altercation in the park with a well known batshit woman. Move on and don't drag it out seeking someone to soothe your upset.

Sux2buthen · 04/06/2023 07:45

To the pp thinking that girls don't wee in bushes, you are so wrong Grin
And yes, being spat at is assault

LittlePickleHead · 04/06/2023 10:19

I called 101 to report someone riding around on a motorbike in a play field with kids and families and dogs running around - ie actually dangerous and illegal - and they didn't bother to turn up so I wouldn't waste your time to be honest.

ThankYouMama · 04/06/2023 21:03

gogohmm · 03/06/2023 21:36

At 6 he was far too old for it to be acceptable, but her behaviour was over the top

I don't believe 6 years old is "far too old" and I think others here will agree it's not!

Like I stated, I don't want my son to think it's ok to do it outside, but whenever he is desperate and there aren't no toilets in site I will allow him use a bush.

I don’t care about peeing in parks/countryside but I think reporting someone for this is ludicrous. It’s a waste of their time.
