Drunk dial shame

I'm seeing a man and it's going really well. On Sunday, I went to the pub and came home and had a few joints with the neighbour in the garden. I didn't think I was very drunk but the weed went to my head. Anyway, I drunk dialled the guy I'm seeing and sent a few messages - nothing particularly bad, just a bit cringey. I can't remember whether he answered the phone though. I've been worrying all week and he hasn't contacted me. I haven't contacted him because I'm too ashamed. We'd planned to go on a hike on Saturday and I'm wondering what to do? Any advice?

Meh, anybody who moans about 'drug takers' but will happily get sloshed on wine with their mates is a bit hypocritical tbh. If alcohol was banned tomorrow loads of people would be buying it on the black market as happened in the prohibition era, and probably saying "a glass of red in my living room isn't hurting anyone".

It's highly likely that alcohol would banned too if we started from scratch and it wasn't so entrenched in our social system.

Usually on those threads the men smoke weed every day and are a lazy partner, not doing anything with the kids, etc. OP said her child was at his dad's, so it sounds like she doesn't do it regularly or around her child. If a man had the odd joint on a night out away from the kids but was a overall a great partner, holds down a job, active parent, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Forget it. If he's right for you he'll get it. Life's too short to be ashamed.

Is there, incidentally, such a thing as an outdoor sofa, all weather, in tasteful colours, of course? Google is only showing scratchy rattan. I quite like the idea of one for my summer evenings spent enjoying one or two doobies glasses of plonk.

I'm not anti weed, but I am risk averse. I enjoy a glass of wine, but I don't like getting drunk. Alcohol is legal and regulated. Weed isn't so you don't know what you are getting unless you grow it yourself.

This is just a personal view.

I happen to be an RG graduate perched on the bottom of my bed with a glass of wine and not thinking about very much. I don't think this makes me especially anything, aside from a twit if I fall off.

You said in response to my post about me not drinking that it was nothing to be proud of. If you are referencing my earlier posts you should have said.

Yes it must have been an earlier post. I think it's brilliant you've chosen not to drink and fully support that. Same as I don't look down on people who do.

Still don't get the link between sofas and class however! Anyway, supper beckons

If you mentioned weed in your messages I imagine that's put him off if you've had radio silence, it's one of those marmite past times.

And you smoke weed? Really? That's absolutely disgusting and you should know the absolutely detrimental effects of doing so. Both on your own health, those around you and the impact drugs (yes, even a 'bit' of weed) have on those who grow it? Obtain it and produce it.
As a foster carer and wife of a Paramedic there is no way I would have anything to do with the stuff. The fall out is huge. Both to the children I have come into contact with in my role as a foster carer and those who are having psychosis and other significant health event due to weed. It isn't this harmless drug people assume it to be. It takes lives!!

This thread is mental. Op smoked some of her neighbour's joint. It's gone from calling her sofa trash to getting angry that she has a phd to blaming her for mixed race kids being searched. The rationale is lacking.

Op I'd send him a text and see if he responds. Did you look at the minutes on the call log? Does he usually text through the week?

Thanks to all those who offered practical solutions. We have text and he thought I was being a bit full on but we have laughed. He's coming over this evening and we're going on a bike ride. Lesson learned.

Tomorrow, I'm going to put my sofa in the front garden just so everyone knows what I'm about!
