To think Phillip schofield scandal is homophobia?

Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

Why does everyone swallow his 'I'm gay' line? Surely he's bi? How can he be anything other than bi? Good point re what they actually did ie we don't know for sure they had sex. I think it's unfair to assume there were other men. Just because he lied once doesn't mean he's covering up a string of other lovers.

Why are you so convinced he's bisexual?

knittingaddict · 05/06/2023 08:34

If this young man is proved to be PS's only gay sexual encounter I will print out all my mn posts and eat them. Could take some time.

I think you're being very naive here.

He isn't clearly bisexual at all. Do you think that because he was/is married? Plenty of gay men have married in the past to conceal their true sexuality. Sometimes even to themselves.

Also, why would you think that it's only this one young man? Because no one else has been named? That is highly unlikely.

Why do I think he's bisexual? 1) PS himself thought he was bisexual to start with. 2) I've only known 2 gay men, so not a large sample, but both said truly gay men just wouldn't contemplate sex with a woman. 3) I remember PS and Steph just after marriage and just after Molly's birth. The chemistry was there and he was clearly attracted to her. Of course this is only my opinion but it's as valid as anyone else's opinion. Other posters think he could be bisexual and they haven't been called naive. Out of interest, how would you define bisexuality? Why do I think there were no more lovers? Because there's no evidence to the contrary, and if we start disbelieving everything he says, then we reduce him to nothing more than a vacant shell of deceit.

I think probably bisexual, DS is gay and has never been out with a girl though they all used to flock round him at school and he has many female friends. DS says he is just not interested in girls apart from as friends, I couldn't imagine him marrying one or having children as PS did. Though when it was illegal gay men covered it up to lead a married life but there would be no need for PS to do that, I am 3 or 4 years older than PS and knew a few gay men when I was younger in the 70s and 80s which would be PS's youth

WakeMeUpWhenGoodOmensIsBack · 05/06/2023 09:02

It was fine for some men to be gay in the 1980s, but definitely not children's TV presenters.

User18538754 · 05/06/2023 09:09

They don't usually marry or have children though, they usually appear to have a single life and fake girlfriends, boyband members are the same.

50450750q · 05/06/2023 09:25

The idea that he can't be gay because he has a wife and children is laughable. Plenty of gay people have done that all throughout history, especially in times and places where homophobia is rife. And no matter how some people like to pretend otherwise, go on about sacred castes or whatever, being gay in the 70s and 80s was far from easy. Just because some posters have a friends aunts neighbour who was openly gay in 1989 doesn't mean everyone was open about it.

Not defending PS BTW.

cathyandclare · 05/06/2023 09:52

It seems highly unlikely to be his first gay relationship. He certainly has mixed and had pics with some pretty, youngish ( but in Phil’s words not illegal) looking gay men. They could be just good friends though. He seems to like young ‘mates.'

cathyandclare · 05/06/2023 09:56

Although that pic is not great evidence because it post-dates the runner!

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 10:21

I mean, it seems patently obvious to me that MM was in love with PS and found out that he wasn't the only extra curricular young boy on his agenda. Hence the fall out & the confrontation at some award ceremony.

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 08:15

Also we don't know they had sex, Phil made out it was the odd kiss, I'd hazard a bit more than that.

And if you believe that, you'll believe anything 😂 PS has admitted to the minimum that he needs to. It's quite likely that he was sleeping with MM when he was only 15.

Otherwise why would TM have got rid of him?

But where is your proof that happened? Bit of a horrible assumption!

You just made that up.

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 10:59

Why is it a horrible assumption?? TV companies don't get rid of presenters who are making them a lot of money unless they have literally no choice. PS has admitted he's a liar. Why should we believe a single thing he says at this point?

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 11:00

You just made that up.

Reading between the lines, that is what looks possible.

Yup, made up.

I'm allowed to have an opinion - I don't need your permission @Blossomtoes

Same.

It's a possibility but saying it's 'patently obvious' is quite a stretch. I don't see how it's any more likely he found out there were others versus he was upset PS maybe put and end to it for example.

It's a bit bizarre to say you're so sure of the details of the backstory behind why something that happened when you aren't directly involved.

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 11:16

You're the one policing the thread. Don't tell me what to think or express an opinion on.

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 11:17

That was to @Blossomtoes

I'm not sure of the details. I'm merely posting my opinion. Having read about the relationship between the two and messages that went back and forth, that is what I think. This is not a trial, it's a discussion forum and I'm allowed to say what I think happened without having to provide evidence.

Blossomtoes · 05/06/2023 11:23

Telling you that you’ve invented a narrative isn’t policing you or denying you an opinion.

Lemieux3 · 05/06/2023 11:29

I haven't 'invented' anything. My opinion is based on what I already stated. People are going to have opinions that might differ from yours.

monsteramunch · 05/06/2023 12:06

Well exactly. People are just discussing your post with you 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's not that you said 'maybe xyz happened' it was you saying it's 'patently obvious xyz happened' that was strange.

It's not a big deal, it's a discussion forum and people can comment on each others posts.

Unintentionallycausingoffence · 05/06/2023 12:14

I know people who believe peadophiles can only be gay men and sexual abuse victims can only be underage boys. If a girl is abused it’s not the man’s fault as he thought she was at least sixteen.
