Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

Can someone link to the article where Schofield gave evidence in court to say he knew his brother was a pedophile and covered it up? I can’t say I much followed the trial at the time.

I think a certain kind of person loves to hate. These boards used to be filled with Megan Martkle hate, now they are filled with PS - I don’t understand the need for people to hate obsess like this, maybe they have shut lives or maybe they are just nasty people but they enjoy the pile on - the object of the hate is irrelevant.

No. The whole thing reminds me a lot of the Prince Andrew situation. It's not about him being gay, it's about men in positions of power/influence exploiting vulnerable (very) young people.

I can't see why he lost his entire career because of this. There is zero evidence of grooming so far and consent is between adults of consenting age.

There are loads of people who cheat on their wives and have affairs with young women, they don't lose their entire careers because of it.

My best friends first met when she was 14 and he was 24, they got together 6 years later and have been together 15 years now. I don’t see him as a pedophile at all.

No one knows how old he is, but he's suspected to be 20 now, 18 when they began their relationship.

An 18yo, uncertain of his sexuality, being persued by a man 40 years older who holds the key to his career success is vulnerable. We know nothing else about him (thankfully) but even what PS himself has said suggests his MH is not strong.

As for your friends, the whole point of grooming is that the victims believe it was all consensual.

Not to forget that boys usually go through puberty later than girls so when 'it' began, he probably was pre-pubescent, not just under-age (and looked it).

If you met somebody as a child within a children's educational/cultural setting and you are 30years older and famous and having loads of other sexual relationships then why would you cross that line a couple of years later when they are still at the younger end of the young adult range? Young people whom you meet as children are out of bounds?
