To think Phillip schofield scandal is homophobia?

ivfregret · 01/06/2023 00:00

Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

It’s entirely comparable.

Caroline Flack committed a violent crime and the press and public were baying for bloody so heavily she was pushed to suicide.

The fact she killed herself doesn’t mean she wasn’t wrong for assaulting her boyfriend while he slept.

PS is imorally wrong but Jesus what do people actually WANT from him because it DOES feel like they want him to suffer enormously.

Then again I’ve never got the hysteria around PS. Like when he skipped the queue for the Queen - so fucking what. It was hardly Phil and Holly’s fault the country had completely lost the run of itself and queued for a day for a woman they never knew. I’d have skipped the queue too.

I think the tide turned against PS + HW some time ago.

I think the general vibe was that they lacked humility and are smug, self-satisfied and overly pleased with themselves.

I think the queue thing just sort of underpinned the general feeling of ‘they think they’re better than everyone else’.

I haven’t watched TM since about 2001 but somehow their tenure on This Morning has even managed to permeate my consciousness.

I don’t watch TM unless I’m off and stuck for something to do but TBH I never got the accusation they’re smug. They’re 2 people presenting a family show which is 90% jollity and 10% sad stories. How are they supposed to be?

Funnily enough I watched TM, er this morning, because the Spitting Image cast were on. I find Dermot O’Dreary and Alison insufferable.

I hope Rylan replaces him. He’s so charismatic and likeable

Doesn’t matter if it’s comparable. Why did he need to bring someone else into it?

Caroline Flack isn’t just a name people can wheel out whenever it suits their agenda. In my opinion, there was absolutely no need for it and it’s disrespectful.

I don’t actually give a shit about them queue jumping, or the like. I didn’t get that either. I am not even jumping up and down over this. But I dislike that he brought someone else into it when he didn’t need to.

Plus there were other things regarding Caroline flack that played a part in it. That heavily impacted her decision to kill herself. It wasn’t just the media or people on social media. So how, would he know what she felt like at that moment?

I don’t know, I suppose not like Alison and Dermot?

I don’t ever watch it so haven’t had much exposure tbh, but this is what I gather the general consensus was 🤷🏻

I’ve caught clips here and there and can’t say I disagree

Because CF’s suicide brought up some very relevant and timely questions about press intrusion and obsession? And it’s what is happening with him. So it’s relevant to say “We need to learn lessons so it doesn’t happen again”.

And exaggerating and embellishing stories on SM is not the way to go. Right wing EFL looks frothing at the mouth and making YT videos. It’s an outrage that some people only reserve for gay people and POC.

At the end of the day the only thing he has done wrong is to shag a junior member of staff. They were both consenting adults

They weren't when they met. He was a 10 year old child. PS groomed him.

10 now? He's getting younger by the day!

There's not a shred of evidence that he groomed him- I don't think a lot of people understand what grooming is!

Nothinglefttogiv · 02/06/2023 15:13

If you want to compare to an older male/female "relationship" wouldn't Prince Andrew be a better comparison? Girl was 17 wasn't she, so "legal" in the UK yet he has been rightly vilified.

I know!!

Next it will be ‘Schofield delivered him into this world when he was born - disgraceful’

Virginia Guiffre was a sex trafficking victim and PA MUST have known that.

Its not been the same since Richard and Judy.

There are photos of them together at a theatre school when the boy was 10. There are photos online. That was when they first met

I couldn’t stand Richard Madeley. But I liked Fern Britton. Who is staying awfully quiet!

So what. PS meets lots of people in his work.

Theres a difference between ‘this is the first time he laid eyes on him’ and ‘he met him aged 10 and stayed in touch’. Which he clearly didn’t. They reconnected when he was much older from what I believe. Old enough for the lad to get a job.

Who is exaggerating anything? I am not.

My point still stands. He could have talked about low he felt. Her name didn’t need to come up.

Blossomtoes · 02/06/2023 15:40

What about a very young vulnerable young man, originally boy befriended by PS. RemeMber him. The cheated on wife. With PS it's all about HIM

That isn’t true. I’ve just watched the interview. He’s very concerned about the other guy, he was clear that he’s the person he feels the most responsibility for. This has turned into a witch hunt now. It’s time to stop and leave all those people involved to have some peace.

CurlewKate · 02/06/2023 15:45

One thing you definitely learn in safeguarding training is not to add children on your social media.

FancyFanny · 02/06/2023 15:54

We know very little about the young man. What made him so vulnerable, more so than any other 19 year old starting a new job?

Kinneddar · 02/06/2023 15:17

Everywhere else it says he was 15. He wouldn't have had a twitter account at age 10.

GrinAndVomit · 02/06/2023 15:58

I think it’s homophobic to assume that grooming is acceptable in homosexual relationships.

Unintentionallycausingoffence · 02/06/2023 16:02

It’s one thing to feel an attraction to someone much younger than you once they become an adult, another to find them attractive as a minor. Then again male adults often end up in relationships with fourteen/ fifteen year old girls as they look older and can pass for seventeen or eighteen say.

People calling PS a paedophile and groomer are exaggerating.

Totally appropriate to bring her name up, CF is not a martyr.

This to me is a fundamental question.

Plenty of people use connections to get entry level jobs especially in showbiz when it’s basically the only way to get into television.

What has one thing got to do with another? What’s the first thing got to do with me?

And who said she was a martyr? Thinking it’s disgusting that someone who has acted badly is bringing up someone else’s suicide to get sympathy isn’t making a martyr out of anyone.

notanotheroneagain · 02/06/2023 17:08

He was pictured with the boy around 10/12 at the appropriately named 2Face theatre
He followed him on Twitter by 15 - 'mentoring' him and taking him out for meals.
Gave him a job by 19.
Had a sexual relationship ship by 20.

I was about to say someone give Schofield an Oscar, but I just say, give it to the interviewers from BBC and Sun who were so patient with him.
The pauses, ruffled hair, faux concerned, serious face, "oh God, no", "that is categorically untrue"..........................

There was no budget at the Sun, so they show he vapes every 10 seconds. He had it on the BBC interview too. How did he do at This Morning, duck behind a couch every 2 minutes for a drag?

I thought it was rich when he said, "there is a person at the end of all this", when he spent over 6yrs participating in the pile on Meghan. Him and all his media mates like Piers M now protesting within 2 weeks. Couldn't walk a day in her shoes. He told H&M to shut up after she disclosed suicide ideas, maybe he should take his own advice.

Also, did he have a Freudian slip and out that he is in some kind of 'secret WhatsApp group', lmao.

And nope, it's not the same as Cheryl who met Liam as a teen (with no implication of any romance) , then he went off to become a superstar with 1D and earned millions and fame while on world tours and saw her again as a twenty something. No power balance here, he was probably richer than her from the hype I remember.
