Have I missed something in that the guy Philip had the affair with was not a minor?

He was a minor when they met, as was Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example and no one has anything bad to say about that relationship.

I'm not sticking up for Philip and really dislike him, and also think even if the runner was above the age of consent is most definitely questionable behaviour but I can't help think of it was a heterosexual affair it would not be treated in the same way?

I agree with this. Everybody was tripping over themselves to say how brave he was because they wanted to be first in the queue to prove how 'un'homophobic they were. He is a cheat. It wasn't perversion for anyone. And if you go onto gay discussion boards, you will see that twinks and relationships with older men are still quite a regular topic of conversation and not a major perversion or taboo. There are youtube and tiktok channels of people in those relationships posting about them with lots of followers.

The younger generations will do things differently for sure and social norms change but that doesn't change history.

Unfortunately, the ' casting couch ' was around many years ago for many an aspiring actor or actress. Read any kind of auto biography of famous stars here or abroad and it was rife along with nepotism , drugs , alcohol etc especially in the 40s and 50s. Many women couldn't really escape such a toxic environment if they wanted to get the parts.
It's a very murky world if you dig too deep.
Which is why many newer revelations rarely surprise me, sad as it is for the victims ;(
