Gutted I was accused of shoplifting today

So I went to Aldi to look for sone antihistamines for my hayfever. I couldn't find them and I was in a rush to get my daughter from her friends. I couldn't get out as I have quite a big pushchair with my toddler in. The queues were so big the only way I could get out was through the entrance. As I was wandering out in my own world a staff member ran out and said excuse me love can I check under your pram? And she did and said it was fine but I sobbed all the way home. I'm a single mum and have been since my daughter was born and life is a struggle. I feel violated and judged and despairing really that they see me like that just because I look young and have a pram. I worked in retail before I had DD so know what it's like but what the hell could I take from Aldi 😳I only went in for sone hayfever wipes ☹️

The store ran a routine security check and said it was fine. You were not accused of anything.

"I feel violated"

Stop insulting people who have suffered sexual and physical harm.

It's OK OP, I got asked at the till to show them what was in my shopping bag as I bought my own bag for life. I asked why and she said it's because apparently shoplifters put things in the bottom, scan cheaper stuff then walk out and the alarm goes off, they're waved through as the sales assistant thinks it's a glitch. It was embarrassing, I'm not going to lie but sadly it's part and parcel of our modern world.
Personally, shoplifters don't bother me, I saw an older woman stealing in Iceland just before Christmas and I said nothing. Not my business to pass judgement.

Something similar happened to me leaving Lidl recently, went in to see if they had any waterproof kids clothes for my son but they didn’t have any in his size. Baby was being cranky so I couldn’t be bothered getting anything else so I just left. Security guard stopped me and asked to look under my pram. I was a little… not offended just a bit taken aback for a second but I guess they just have to do that if they get a lot of shoplifters. I wouldn’t take it personally.

That’s a bit much, you can’t argue semantics when violated means something that is sacred is treated disrespectfully. When my home was broken into I felt violated. I wasn’t there but all my my possessions were rooted through, things were taken, so was my sense of safety for a while. People on here call things a ‘tragedy’ or ‘despicable’ when they are neither, but I don’t pop up with a wagging finger and tell them they are insulting people who have died in a terrible accident (as has happened in my family; twice). Not fair at all.

Aldi ask to look under my pram all the time. Don’t son anymore, pet.

Of course you were, it’s terrible. I do sometimes wonder if the world is going backwards.

They have no right to search you.
This happened to me when I was leaving Lidl, the alarm went off, I had nothing, no bags, nothing. I wasn't the only person going through the door. I ignored the alarm and one of the staff grabbed me shouting 'What have you stolen from our shop?'
I told him to get his fucking hands off me. I was told I was barred from the shop for swearing at a member of staff so I said 'You have just assaulted me, let's call the Police.'
They weren't keen, I didn't have the time, so I walked away seething.

I did actually feel violated that she was going through my babies pram and personal belongings. I won't ever shop there again . Thanks for all the support

You can thank the people using baby prams to hide the stolen merch for sale in pub later...
