Mine?

Rejoin the EU.

It the single most powerful lever any government could employ.

It makes the country significantly better off at a stroke and improves all kinds of situations, growth, investment, labour shortages, farming, fishing...

What's yours?

IamRoyFuckingKent · 29/05/2023 16:26

Rejoin the EU
get inflation and interest rates under control
fix the NHS
pay public sector workers properly inc nurses, doctors, teachers
Make the post office pay for the Horizon scandal, prosecute the execs involved
amend the equality act to make it clear that sex not gender is protected
sort the Met’s institutional racism and sexism, get trust back in the police
stop treating refugees inhumanely (Rwanda fgs)

oh and stop being lying corrupt misogynist arseholes

CheeseTouch · 29/05/2023 16:27

Resign

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 29/05/2023 16:28

Reduce retirement age to 60

SmokeMeAKipper79 · 29/05/2023 16:30

Pay employees properly
Maintain the roads
Punish crime effectively
Sort out illegal immigration
Sort out education
Build more hospitals
Single sex to mean biological sex in all instances

There are loads OP. Rejoining the EU would be very far down my list tbh, there are far more immediate problems to solve.

Tinktravels · 29/05/2023 16:30

Protect women's rights and travellers rights

Spectre8 · 29/05/2023 16:31

Spend our money properly! The single biggest thing that will help every single person is this. Stop wasting money on stupid projects. If projects don't deliver penalise the companies and get the money back. Stop handing money out uncessarily, even the small % of benefits cheats cla.p it down infsct it shouldn't happen in first place if things were just done properly.

We give billions in taxes! Things can be better if they are spent properly.

Rejoining the EU instantly takes the Brexit drag off our economy which produces the money necessary to pay for the other stuff we want.

Force deadbeat fathers to pay child support that reflects the actual cost of raising a child.

Close all self employed loop holes and take assets into account not just declared income.

Enforce heavy sanctions such as automatic removal of passports or driving licences for non payment..

mumjoyful · 29/05/2023 16:33

Child care for school holidays...fix shortage of NHS jobs with inhouse free training and proper wages. Ensure footsie 100 companies pay a proper wage and reinvest in people and fixing problems before paying dividends!

EasyLifer · 29/05/2023 16:33

Agree with reduce retirement age to 60.

When I started work the retirement age for women was 60 but most women I knew had some savings or inheritance so retired at about 58. Now Im coming up to that age but still have years to go!

MMMarmite · 29/05/2023 16:34

Improve public transport and cycle paths.

Fund the NHS so we can rely on it.

DoAWheelie · 29/05/2023 16:36

Raise my disability benefits to match my actual cost of living, and cover the costs of a new wheelchair so I can leave my home independently for the first time in 4 years.

I'm just stuck in my house sliding further and further into debt just existing.

MrsRinaDecker · 29/05/2023 16:37

Renationalise gas and electricity

Stop the ridiculous system of GPs being the gateway to everything (currently.. can’t access disability support at uni without a GP’s letter.. pain clinic has recommended a change to my medication but it needs a GP’s referral.. most repeat prescriptions could be handled by a pharmacist.. and of course the massive issues around access to secondary care) plus make them fully part of the NHS not the current model where they are private businesses.

PartnersInCrime · 29/05/2023 16:37

Fix the NHS

Force supermarkets to pay farmers profitable amounts. Ban UPFs. I think there is a LOT supermarkets could change to improve the environment, agriculture and health of the country. But won't unless they're forced to.

Alpacasmum · 29/05/2023 16:54

Pass the Kept Animals Bill that Parliament cancelled last week which would have helped billions of animals from cruelty in Factory Farming, Live Exports, Puppy Farms, Illegal Import of Animals, Zoo Animals, Fish and many more.

Just cancelled.

PinkConsoleGamer · 29/05/2023 16:55

Cap profits for food retailers so that they are forced to bring prices down

A massive investment and building of social housing. This will drive down private rents and house prices.

FilthyforFirth · 29/05/2023 16:59

Rejoin the EU swiftly followed by scrapping nursery fees.
