Schofield saga-to think this is all very odd?

Howwindyisittoday · 28/05/2023 16:39

It’s very confusing.
Rumours have been circulating for three years, even I knew the rumours, how on earth did Holly and others not?
He says there was no injunction, so the boy could have spoken out at any time..so why is it all coming out now?? Why has Holly suddenly distanced herself, why have itv got rid of him now?
They've now said the boy was 15 when they met (sure was younger?) and nothing happened until he was older, nothing illegal but still massively wrong. But if there is nothing illegal and they all knew about it…why now?
Why has P.S been so willing to go along with it this week?

This feels like a cover up for something much much worse?

Genuinely, I actually think the online deflection of Schofield threads is the most interesting thing about the whole thing.

He’s paying crisis comms people for this. It’s fascinating to see what takes root and is perpetuated across a range of sites.

Maybe this should from part of the inquiry!

He lied he admitted he lied and if there are rumours circulating about a close friend of yours and he says they are untrue who do you believe? Random strangers you don't know or a close friend who you believe you know

Agreed

Yerroblemom1923 · 28/05/2023 18:21

His name is already out there.

BreadInCaptivity · 28/05/2023 18:24

I thought there was a super injunction

If there was an SI you can't even report that there is an injunction so that's highly unlikely.

We don't know why the young man has changed his position - could one of many reasons, but fundamentally the reason he lied in the past is no longer a factor.

Oh please they all knew what had gone on

they’re just distancing themselves from it and play acting out this whole PR-concocted narrative, for whatever reason PS has agreed to fall on his sword and protect the rest - imagine it would have been fascinating to be privy to all the machinations behind the scenes. I imagine at the very least PS left ITV with a hefty payout

I imagine they all knew this was going to come out further down the line, and now with PS’s brother convicted (and PS also implicated in covering for him), the picture is just too unsavoury. PS’s position reached critical mass of being untenable and all those who’ve covered for him as his continued success benefited them - HW, ITV, his management company – now do not want to be taken down with him.

I imagine behind the scenes he’s a bit of a prick and has got up a lot of people’s noses, hence the press and ex colleagues having a field day.

Even viewers have been sick of them both for years now.

Yeah I'm a bit confused by it all tbh. I thought it was widely known that he'd had an affair with an 18 year old, but it was all swept under the carpet and reframed as him being 'brave' to come out as being gay. But now it's being treated as huge news.
To be fair though I do think it's good that no one seems to have named the lad involved. Not sure if that's because of an injunction but I hope it stays that way.

Even I know his name this past couple of years.

She knew/knows full well, the guy was thrown out of the NTA’s she was there and saw what happened, he was causing a scene allegedly, prob been drinking and we all know what happens when you are emotional and on the booze!

And STILL took her kids on holiday with PS and his enabler wife. Including her young son.

HW and her H should be hanging their heads in shame

VintageBlossomHill · 28/05/2023 18:29

I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg and there’s more in the pipeline. Holly must know what the full story is and that’s why she is dumping him. I also feel like we’ll be hearing a lot more about Prince Andrew in the years to come.

OCarumba · 28/05/2023 18:31

VintageBlossomHill · 28/05/2023 18:26

Even I know his name this past couple of years.

I think it’s the timing and association with his brother. And I’m sure there was some gagging period - I remember something about there being a three-year period of something or other being mentioned when PS came out in 2020. It’s been widely expected that the younger man would be talking at some point when whatever was silencing him came to an end.

Wheresthebeach · 28/05/2023 18:34

MM has been silent for years, despite all the information being discussed on social media. It looks like he's not prepared to be quiet anymore - lying is exhausting. No doubt he's been under huge pressure to keep quiet. Now he's admitting it all, PS had not choice but to get out fast. It was clearly an open secret hence all sorts of people coming out of the woodwork now. I bet there's more, esp as The Fail isn't publishing the picture of PS theatre group when MM was 10.

And yes, the constant derailing is...ahem...interesting. I just don't click on threads that bore me.

FFS not another thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

I agree. I never liked him but this is beginning to feel like a witch hunt. He’s lost his career what more do people want. Blood?

Howwindyisittoday · 28/05/2023 18:49

@IncomingTraffic Completely! It doesn’t feel like the normal type of mumsnet comments at times…v interesting

I think that Philip's brother has been around Holly's children at some point - maybe a party or BBQ. Then Holly finds out that Philip knew all along that his brother was a paedophile.

I would never have worked that out for myself. But yes, it’s just so obvious now that you’ve mentioned it.

He groomed this young man and remained in his position for years despite the whole thing being an open secret (it’s common knowledge that this is why he came out in 2020).

Even I knew about it, and I don’t have any particular interest in these people or the tv programme.

This latest development has literally just happened, there has clearly been a cover up, and it is very much in the public interest what has happened here, why it has been covered up, and why figures like this in the public sphere are protected.

It’s also interesting to see how the PR machinery works – you know so much of what you hear and see is orchestrated for PR reasons, however it’s rarely such transparent, carefully concocted bollocks.

FMLWTF · 28/05/2023 17:02

Dr Ranj - remember him? He’s just posted a long Instagram post about the toxic culture that saw him ousted from This Morning for whistleblowing.

Oh God as if I needed another reason to love Dr Rank more than I already do - he's a whistleblower too. He's so lovely 😍

Outofthepark · 28/05/2023 18:53

Dr Ranj, bloody autocorrect!!

Wheresthebeach · 28/05/2023 18:54

That management 'managed out' other TV personalities that complained is a serious issue for ITV management. Sounds rather like constructive dismissal, while the senior teams protected PS from multiple bullying complaints, as well as turning a blind eye to what everyone could see.

Yes very much so! This is a whole branch of PR, crisis management.

Vinvertebrate · 28/05/2023 18:57

Even I knew about this “affair” with a much younger colleague years ago and I’m no popbitch aficionado type.

The haste with which PS has been dropped by his management suggests more to come. Or maybe it was the brother’s conviction that made things too unsavory to maintain the facade.

ReturnoftheMuck · 28/05/2023 19:00

What is this saga distracting you from?

That's all it is because this whole thing has dragged out for weeks on end.
