Schofield saga-to think this is all very odd?

It’s very confusing.
Rumours have been circulating for three years, even I knew the rumours, how on earth did Holly and others not?
He says there was no injunction, so the boy could have spoken out at any time..so why is it all coming out now?? Why has Holly suddenly distanced herself, why have itv got rid of him now?
They've now said the boy was 15 when they met (sure was younger?) and nothing happened until he was older, nothing illegal but still massively wrong. But if there is nothing illegal and they all knew about it…why now?
Why has P.S been so willing to go along with it this week?

This feels like a cover up for something much much worse?

Wonder if anyone has asked if PS got a pay off to make his "I lied statement"?

It will hopefully come to light if so. Must be a paper trail if that happened, but they will perhaps use 'confidentiality' to swerve any questions.

I wonder if there is any truth to the story that Dr Ranj got too flirty with Mm which led to PS freezing him out of the show?

Sounds far fetched to me. Surely there are other men in London.

PrincessScarlett · 31/05/2023 09:45

Carole Malone on Jeremy Vine this morning. She's angry about the whole ITV debacle. Said that the coming out story was all a complete farce as The Sun was going to reveal all about PS being gay and the affair with MM. Said she was at the NTAs (as were many others in the industry) when MM caused a scene and he was treated appallingly by PS and ITV. There has been a major cover up which goes way beyond what PS has done.

Flunkey · 31/05/2023 10:23

I'm shamelessly addicted to this saga, but I thought PS was a good egg so it's got my attention. It's mortifying if ITV have covered this up with no regard for the runner and putting profit above safeguarding a young person in the workplace. Sure he was technically an adult, but an 18 year old who has moved to London to work there should recieve an appropriate level of duty of care.

Does anyone remember Miriam Margolyes say something about her being able to tell Phillip Schofield is a big playboy live on This Morning (or something to the same effect)? I remember it because the smile on his face when she said it struck me, but I thought it was her being her usual charming self! Now it will appear loaded and telling.

I'm surprised the video hadn't resurfaced.

Elior · 31/05/2023 10:50

The problem was that PS knew his family well so nobody was going to come in the way of a personal relationship between the star of the show and a newcomer when it seemed friendly and caring. There are more and more clips emerging which all add up to a grooming experience in plain sight. TV presenters withy 'those tendencies' seem to share a compulsion to parade it on screen to see if it gets picked up on. Just like Saville and Rolf.

I thought it was an open secret that the coming out in 2020 was pre-emoting this story coming out

Of course they covered it up..! And I’m sure they couldn’t give a shit about some runner – they are treated notoriously poorly, which I know even with no particular interest in tv or the media. It’s hyper competitive to break into and they’re regarded as disposable.

It even came across on screen to be honest that PS and HW felt untouchable (I can’t stand either of them and don’t watch this morning but do see clips of it on other stuff).

I get the feeling a lot of people aren’t sorry to see him exposed.

Flunkey · 31/05/2023 12:55

This saga is sitting on knife edge and it all depending on if MM talks. If he doesn't...ITV will probably say they got it wrong and are implementing more safeguarding measures to ensure lessons are learnt. PS has fallen and he is taking responsibility for his unwise behaviour and lying to everyone - probably for a good payout. The crux is MM was legally an adult when the said affair happened. This has caused reputational damage to PS, his colleagues and ITV, but there is no criminal case to answer.

People are coming out and saying it was known, but not discussed that PS and MM were together. All they could do was raise their eyebrows and think whatever they like about age gap relationships. I do not know what anybody else could do other than be a friend to the MM when he got hurt. MM also has to take some responsibility for having an affair with a married man - even though he was probably told BS by PS and very green. It looks like he was being offered access to opportunities young people can only dream of. I do wonder what the parents thought of PS hanging around their son. Did nothing strike it as odd, such a successful man with a wife would be hanging around with their son 🤔.

Elior · 31/05/2023 16:50

All those people who knew MM was in a vulnerable situation for x,y,z reason but everybody waiting for someone else to make the complaint (including the people awaiting the complaint). 😮

Elior · 31/05/2023 16:53

There is something transactional about the whole thing. Like getting to stand behind HW at the NTAs in 2018. Not many runners would get that opportunity. As he grew older, MM did appear confident in his manner but he may have thought that he was with his soulmate and felt on top of the world until PS let him down.

Howwindyisittoday · 01/06/2023 00:03

@Elior What do you mean by transactional?

@Elior What do you mean by transactional?

Well, It really depends on when PS crossed over from mentor to predator.

One phase of their relationship was the boy being befriended as a child. At some point, he started being subjected to disgusting power play and grooming by PS.

The transactional element was more of an illusion on MMc's part and more likely to be a coping mechanism to come to terms with his own abuse by a known public figure: Using the old predator to climb a few rungs at a time in an industry which is impossible to break into for much more talented young people.
Letting the old pervert get his wicked way while he gained Industry exposure and tried to build a TV career. Convincing himself that he wasn't a victim of sordid grooming but now an equal player in a hedonistic relationship - what Eammon described as Thursday playtime and a taxi sent to collect MM on Friday mornings.
When MMc started publicly declaring his love for PS, PS realised that his career was at risk and ruthlessly ended it, confirming that he was still always the one in control and that the career ops had been his way of compensating MM for robbing him of his innocence and hushing him up.

QueenMegan · 01/06/2023 09:59

Wtf are you saying PS had an affair with Mirium Margoyle?

Elior · 01/06/2023 10:02

😂😂

QueenMegan · 01/06/2023 10:14

I used to work in TV so I'm an expert. Of course the stars have massive egos and live a charmed protected life. Like any hierarchical institution churches schools BBC Royal Family there are those who abuse their power and are untouchable protected in order to preserve their reputation by the very people who should be in a position to expose this kind of shit.
Sadly we know that predators are blatant and often come across as virtuous beyond reproach.
Covering up for his brother was a massive red flag as was hiding his sensuality I mean do we really care if he's gay. He lied for years and presented a faux charm.
I think stuff will come out. There is no doubt he used the runner and got rid when the heat was on. Us he a paedophile or a self serving selfish twat. The media is notorious for being an industry built on egos and dodgey recruitment its who you know.. perhaps that need to look at that.

QueenMegan · 01/06/2023 10:15

I'm not an expert really 🙄

QueenMegan · 01/06/2023 10:16

Sexuality. Jesus I'm still in shock about Mirium

ChintzyGunslinger · 01/06/2023 10:18

^Don't be stupid. And it's Miriam Margolyes.

hotelmotelpremierinn · 01/06/2023 10:43

I was first told of PS' homosexuality in the early 2000s so I'm guessing there's a LOT more to come out.

Littlethingsmeanalot · 01/06/2023 11:49

I agree, everything here depends on if mm talks and what he says. The mail are clearly wooing him, hence the super protection of him, it’s going to stay headline until that decision is made I suspect.

Elior · 01/06/2023 11:58

The most named un-nameable person in the UK.

Firesgoneout · 01/06/2023 11:59

I speculate and theorise that the Mail have said that they will pay any costs incurred for the breaking of any NDA which is why there’s a drip feed going on.

Is this in the public interest? Yes, I think it is. DH and I were watching BGT semis last night and the whole ITV world seems so murky at the moment.

RedToothBrush · 01/06/2023 12:19

Breaking a NDA even in circumstances where its legally possible isn't easy. Mainly because there is still the threat of the NDA holder taking it to court. The problem with that, is you need deep pockets to defend yourself in that scenario. So people don't do it, because theres too much of a risk for them if they can't afford the legal.

Even the Mail won't want to go down that route if they can help it, because its expensive when they think they can crack the story by other means.
l
Atm they are just going through everything thats been on social media for years - time dated stuff that predates 7th Feb 2020 is particularly interesting. As is anything in the near aftermath of that before the professional internet cleaner came in.

You can gradually drip drip and hope that leads to someone dropping their account into the mix as a witness.

Eventually you get dam burst.

ITV have now, predictably, been forced into an enquiry. That means heads are likely to roll in a damage limitation. Theres no way nothing will be found in an investigation - at the very least there will be a tightening of employee contracts and guidelines for protecting junior members of staff and work experience placements. Its inevitable.

Chispazo · 01/06/2023 16:15

How could somebody else's account be the damm burst? Can you explain?
