Schofield saga-to think this is all very odd?

It’s very confusing.
Rumours have been circulating for three years, even I knew the rumours, how on earth did Holly and others not?
He says there was no injunction, so the boy could have spoken out at any time..so why is it all coming out now?? Why has Holly suddenly distanced herself, why have itv got rid of him now?
They've now said the boy was 15 when they met (sure was younger?) and nothing happened until he was older, nothing illegal but still massively wrong. But if there is nothing illegal and they all knew about it…why now?
Why has P.S been so willing to go along with it this week?

This feels like a cover up for something much much worse?

Yeah I'm a bit confused by it all tbh. I thought it was widely known that he'd had an affair with an 18 year old, but it was all swept under the carpet and reframed as him being 'brave' to come out as being gay. But now it's being treated as huge news.
To be fair though I do think it's good that no one seems to have named the lad involved. Not sure if that's because of an injunction but I hope it stays that way.

On another thread one poster even suggested confidently that ps had probably molested his brother and that was why he had turned out that way. Wtaf??? That’s slander, false accusation and much more. Interestingly, right under the ps accusations the other day were two paedo hunters who was being imprisoned for falsely accusing someone.

I think it’s super unprofessional for this all to be Playing out in public with the public invited to join in- like a public flogging or something. It’s the lack of dignity and public pike on that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially when I see other countries behaving with grace, dignity and nobility. We are in a live Jeremy kyle show but nobody seems to have noticed. Look how well that turned out, right?

Maybe he didn't want to come forward and have his private life pulled apart by everyone and anyone? I can't say I've been following this closely(or at all really) but has anyone asked him if he wanted this all over the Internet? Maybe as far as he was concerned it was private business and if he wanted to hold Schofield to account he would he would have done?

If he is a private person this is a lot. Your name everywhere, just on mumsnet alone there have been so many threads presuming they know all about him from time lines they have pulled from everywhere. I'd be so upset if I was being dissected like this by strangers. Nobody actually seems to care about him on all of this, they are just using him as a pawn to bring down Schofield.

holly Never said she didn’t know the rumours, in fact the opposite, she said she asked him three years ago when it first came out and he strenuously denied it. Itv also launched an investigation and him and M both strenuously denied it. What do you wish them to do, follow them with a video camera?

on why it’s coming out now, clearly Philip tried to stop it again, and the mail has something he’s trying to stop being published. There was no injunction but an nda apparently.

but yes I suspect more to come. And holly knows what it is.

Who knows but I'd assume more along the lines of denial/confusion as I think he married quite young. At least he didn't string her along for 20+ years like PS

She knew/knows full well, the guy was thrown out of the NTA’s she was there and saw what happened, he was causing a scene allegedly, prob been drinking and we all know what happens when you are emotional and on the booze!

From what I read, Phil hired Mishcon de Reyes (law firm) to represent the young man against harassment from the papers but he decided he was tired of lying and told the lawyers the truth so Phil had to come clean or the lad would.
Holly was upset as she had asked him outright when he came out as gay...as he flatly denied it. Shades of his brother as the lad was only 18 when the affair started and Phil was about 58....

Wiser because he was 35 to her 29? Please. As an adult woman of almost 30 she's just as responsible for safeguarding her children's wellbeing FFS.

Genuinely, I actually think the online deflection of Schofield threads is the most interesting thing about the whole thing.

He’s paying crisis comms people for this. It’s fascinating to see what takes root and is perpetuated across a range of sites.

Yes. and it suggests to me that he may have disclosed something that day that the solicitors, upon hearing it said, were ethically compelled not to cover up. Perhaps it was the first time this young man had been in a room with people with legal knowledge who were actually acting in his best interests.
