Men. Why can't they think with their heads and act with some sense of integrity and responsibility? 4am in a brothel, I ask you. These are the people who think they are fit to lead the country.

Is this sort of thing just not on or AIBU?
It's not like it's a one off or rare kind of incident is it?

Tory MP who found himself in brothel feared he was victim of honeytrap

The MP is understood to believe that his drinks had been spiked and even feared that he had been targeted in a honeytrap by agents of Russia or China.

Honey traps only work because men think with the head in their trousers not on their shoulders.

"it will add to concerns about the culture at Westminster, where politicians are separated from their families for long stretches of the week and work long hours."

Yeah every time I have to work late I get a bit tired and end up in a brothel. Every damn time.

Maybe he was spiked (I assume the people who got him out of the place took him straight to the police station for blood sampling and reported a suspected crime, yes?)
But this kind of thing always just sounds like a Little Britain Sir Norman Fry speech.

kingtamponthefurred · 27/05/2023 19:37

Poor man. I hope he did not trip and fall into someone's vagina, it's amazing how often that happens.

Like when women "fall pregnant" - per old fashioned terminology.

I wonder if they tripped, fell and landed on a penis!

I agree it's embarrassing and disgusting and cringe and unprofessional for this man and even more so that he's supposed to be an upstanding professional figure running the country.

Not all men are the same. Would be a bit like a man posting a similar news story about a woman (for example a female MP working as an escort/prostitute caught out or something) alongside the title "women women women women" like alllll women can be tarnished with the same brush as said MP prostitute.

The poster would be annihilated.

"found himself" 😂

Nice in theory but in practice, it's mostly men

It really does.
"As far as I'm concerned, that is the end of the matter."

FOJN · 27/05/2023 20:07

FFS exploiting women and then playing the victim. Honey Trap my fucking arse.

Nah you've misunderstood. I'm not saying that "it's not always men who get caught out" at this sort of thing. Vast majority of the time it is!!

What I'm saying is that not all men are like this MP

There's a difference.

Because that happens so often , a female MP/ prostitute. 🙄

Right, but…. Female MPs never do that!?

Whereas male MPs have form for exactly the sort of behaviour that’s being discussed.

Hence, ‘men, men, men, men, men’.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 27/05/2023 20:20

Why is it when a woman gets her drink spiked it ends up with warnings about not leaving your drink unguarded, don't go out alone, etc etc basically implying that if a woman doesn't behave properly then it's her fault.

But when a man goes put drinking alone and (allegedly) gets his drink spiked its a "honeypots" fault.

Its never not a woman's fault is it?

I bet he doesn't get asked questions by the police about what clothes he was wearing and what colour was his underwear.

SargentSagittarius · 27/05/2023 20:22

It’s ‘honey trap’, but yes, very much agree.

Oysterbabe · 27/05/2023 20:31

Urgh. Men are gross.
Must have been a woman's fault obviously 🙄

scoobycute · 27/05/2023 20:51

@SargentSagittarius @SirVixofVixHall but you know I'm not stating that's it's not always men who end up in these predicaments? It is!!!

I'm just saying not all men end up in these predicaments

Some men are rotten. Not all "men men men men men"

Given the headline is basically blaming a woman, and yet women get blamed if ther drinks are spiked, men men men is a bit of a balance to the media going women women women really

With all due respect, whatever, really!

Of course it’s not ‘all men’ who do this 😑 - not one single person needs this pointing out. it is so, so tired. I don’t know a single man who would do this.

But it is only men who get honey trapped, end up in brothels and cavorting with prostitutes.

Hence: ‘men, men, men, men, men’.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 27/05/2023 20:58

I'd have more sympathy for not all men if men werent statistically more likely to believe a woman is at fault if she gets raped.

Women are berated constantly with not all men, yet 'not all women are like that' isn't even a phrase despite the media, and some mens constant drip drip drip of blame.

DobbysTeaCosy · 27/05/2023 21:00

No, not all men end up in that predicament, no.

But such an enormous amount of men who wield power, be it through politics, music, film whatever, it's not really appropriate to be defensive and say not all men.

Either society is patriarchal and rewards and excuses that type of man/behaviour, or that type of man is attracted to power.

Either way, it's worth discussing and not shut down with not all men.

I mean, my husband would fall into the 'not all men' category, but he's not a power seeker so men like him aren't represented at higher levels. It's worth exploring why that is. He's also not such a delicate soul that he can't understand that we have a big 'men' problem in general without getting defensive.
Men need to start having these conversations, as women get shouted down with not all men.

Maverickess · 27/05/2023 21:01

I worked a 14 hour shift away from my family yesterday and didn't 'find' myself naked in a brothel at 4am.

It's just so typical that they've managed to shoe horn the word victim, pertaining to the poor man of course, into it, and how he 'found' himself in a brothel. I mean none of it could possibly be a result of his own choices or be any of his responsibility at all.
