Men. Why can't they think with their heads and act with some sense of integrity and responsibility? 4am in a brothel, I ask you. These are the people who think they are fit to lead the country.

Is this sort of thing just not on or AIBU?
It's not like it's a one off or rare kind of incident is it?

Tory MP who found himself in brothel feared he was victim of honeytrap

The MP is understood to believe that his drinks had been spiked and even feared that he had been targeted in a honeytrap by agents of Russia or China.

Although I do think the op is guilty of getting the theme tune for the awful Two and a half men in my head.

But then now I've got it in everyone else's.

So... Touche?

I mean, how is saying ‘not all men do this’ helpful?

What is it meant to achieve?

It’s stating the bleeding obvious, and also trying to diminish the behaviour of the not insignifiant men who do do it.

I’m highly suspicious of the motivation behind people who spew NAMALT on threads like this. It’s so weird.

Tribal mentality?
Unable to think critically?
Internalised misogyny?

It’s the weird, desperate need to protect the poor men - who neither care, let alone would ever thank them for it - that seems so odd to me.

@SargentSagittarius "It’s the weird, desperate need to protect the poor men - who neither care, let alone would ever thank them for it - that seems so odd to me."

There's nothing weird or desperate about speaking out on behalf of decent men who are not like the men in that article. Of which there are many.

Hatred towards all men based off a disgusting small percentage is called Misandry and I'm absolutely bored listening to feminists and their "men men men" rants

SargentSagittarius · 27/05/2023 21:45

But once again @scoobycute - WE KNOW.

We know not all men are like that! I’m surrounded by good men who couldn’t be less like that if they tried!

All the people (or at least 98% +) who do behave like this are men, though.

Deadringer · 27/05/2023 21:46

Not all men, but too fucking many.

Yes I think we have established that we are going round in circles in that we agree on that part!!

My issue has always been the title and the generalisation!

No use in discussing it further because you just don't understand

SargentSagittarius · 27/05/2023 22:04

No, you don’t understand.

We know NAMALT. You telling us adds nothing to the discussion.

Not all men, but when it happens, it’s inevitably men.

Hahaha I knew you would retort with "you don't understand"

👍🏼

SargentSagittarius · 27/05/2023 22:05

The tile is ‘men, men, men…’ because we’re discussing behaviour that men exhibit and women don’t.

See the difference?

Yeah, and as usual someone has come along with NAMALT and that's the discussion about yet another man's crappy behaviour and attempts to make him the victim because he's been caught, diverted again.
Which someone cynical would say is the whole intention.

We do understand

We do understand that on any thread discussing men as a class at least one poster normally more will pop up to helpfully remind us NAMALT along with those telling us 'not my Nigel'

All it is is an attempt to stop women from being able to discuss how mens behaviour generally impacts women and society by trying to limit us to only talking about specific men rather than trends and statistics.

You never hear 'not all women' because its only men who are protected like this. Its tedious, its boring and we see you.

SargentSagittarius · 27/05/2023 22:14

Thank you @Maverickess and @Catchasingmewithspiders

It’s so tedious, predictable and the motivation is so highly questionable.

powershowerforanhour · 28/05/2023 09:08

Anyway, back to the thread. This incident happened last year, when Boris Johnston was still in charge. Why is it only coming out now? These sorts of things are usually kept in the cupboard and spoonfed to the media slowly to use up attention when something else is happening, or (more boringly) dumped out in the course of unpleasant individuals furiously trying to stab each other in the back.

Brois Johnson is being asked to hand over his notebooks from covid, and hes threatening to sack his legal counsel and get a new one charging 1.25 million to the taxpayer for the privilege

I would imagine MP enticed into a brothel by a russian agent was supposed to distract us
