Currently have an Audi A4 Avant which I love but it’s on its last legs now. I was thinking of getting another newer one but fancy a change.

My criteria is:

Big enough for pram
Lots of leg room
Fits 2 isofix seats in the back
Good on fuel
Comfortable for long trips
Has a good amount of tech
Looks cool!

My Volvo is an older style xc90. It's huge! It needs a huge turning circle and is not easy to park.

We need it for towing which it does very well. I'm happy to be a passenger in the Volvo but not the driver.

Much prefer the Audi q2 which feels very light and nimble in comparison.

Jaguar F Pace. I love it. Loads of room in front & back seats plus great boot.

FannythePinkFlamingo · 25/05/2023 18:54

I loved my Suzuki Vitara. Plenty of space, higher up, lots of tech. I traded it in for a Suzuki Swift as I didn't need anything as big any more. Would get another one though.

tootrueblue · 25/05/2023 18:57

BMW 530d touring. Absolutely beautiful, all the tech you could want. If it's a bit too big for you, the 3 series is pretty much the same thing. Also available in a 2ltr.

Bmw estate

Dunnoburt · 25/05/2023 18:58

Bloody love my Citroën C1.....can literally fit it ANYWHERE...not massive though.....

FortyFacedFuckers · 25/05/2023 19:00

I have a Kia sportage, I love it but not sure if it fits your criteria

Kazzyhoward · 25/05/2023 19:00

Just bought a Volvo XC40 - absolutely love it. Plenty of room, very safe, very comfortable, and just the right amount of "tech".

Mine is a seat Leon fr. love it. It's practical but still lovely. Really smooth to drive. Quick to start from traffic lights. Economical

I’ve got a Seat Leon, not FR and I absolutely love it. Has it nearly 3 years which is a record for me as I don’t normally have over 2 years. Not even thinking about getting rid of it yet.

2chocolateoranges · 25/05/2023 19:04

Audi Q2 here.
Great on fuel
Plenty legroom back and front.
Big boot
Comfy
Looks good.

Had it a year and I still love it.

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 25/05/2023 19:07

I have an Octavia estate which would do all of the things you've listed. You could spec up for more tech but it's pretty good on standard spec. Good fuel economy too, especially on longer trips but good round town too.

Speckson · 25/05/2023 19:12

We have a Landrover Discovery Sport - very plush and comfortable but we have had quite a lot of problems with it from new, including the central locking which has failed 3 times now.

Our other car is a VW Caddy Life - it's fantastic - very practical, economic, tons of space (and the seats easily remove if you want to move a piano, for instance!)

But - it doesn't look cool.

We have a BMW x3 petrol. It ticks all of your boxes apart from good on fuel. It's a lovely car. If I had to buy a new car today I would buy another one. I couldn't say the same about any other car I have owned.

Me too. In fact it is my second. It’s an M40 petrol and I am happy with the mileage, but I do a lot of rural driving.

ChrisPPancake · 25/05/2023 19:23

I'd recommend mine (VW Up) but I was way beyond the toddler years when I got it!

Babdoc · 25/05/2023 19:30

I’m v happy with my Ford Focus. Have driven them since they first came out, always trade in for a new one around the 4 or 5 year mark. Top speed of 110mph, which is great on the motorway.
Never needs any repairs or parts, just annual service - v reliable.
Loads of space for three people in the back comfortably, and a good sized boot.
When the kids were at home, we could easily fit three adults’ suitcases in the boot. And I can get a six foot real Xmas tree in, by dropping the rear seats!

UCknowitall · 25/05/2023 19:32

Mazda MC5 jabe told my 20 somethings that NO child seat is going in it .. they need to cross their legs !!

Jaguar F Pace. I love it. Loads of room in front & back seats plus great boot.

I loved mine too, until the turbocharger failed on me

Campervangirl · 25/05/2023 19:35

I've got a mini convertible, wouldn't recommend it, I've got pockets bigger than the boot!
It's my runaround as I have a VW campervan.
The mini is lovely though when the weather is nice, roof down

lastdayatschool · 25/05/2023 19:36

Not a car I've owned, but one of the best ones I've ever received as a hire car was a Kia Soul.

Another van-shape car which was like a Tardis. And no slouch when it came to driving either

junglejane66 · 25/05/2023 19:37

And get a red one and you can pretend to be postman pat

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/05/2023 19:39

Hyundai Tucson, fabulous car - roomy, economic, lots of tech, drives well. I’d buy another in a heartbeat.

erikbloodaxe · 25/05/2023 19:40

I had a Vogue and now have a Volvo. Similar comfort level.

SSCCLL · 25/05/2023 19:41

@JuneShitfield why is that? Just because of the space?

bozzabollix · 25/05/2023 19:42

Have a BMW 5 series touring. Absolutely love it. So easy to drive, lots of tech, not thirsty on fuel and great performance.
