To see Elton John by myself?

I have the chance to see Elton John’s final tour, but only if I go on my own. Will I still enjoy myself do you think?

You're an adult, you can see whatever concert you like with however many people you like. Whether you enjoy it or not no-one else can tell you, that's up to you!

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 24/05/2023 13:53

Absolutely, I go to loads on my own, Harry Styles on Friday night will be the third this year, and I've tons more booked.

GeriKellmansUpdo · 24/05/2023 13:57

Gosh, I would love to go. Alone or otherwise. But the tickets are way too expensive.

Go for it, life is too short not to. Have fun!

SimonsCow · 24/05/2023 14:38

Depends on you really! Will you confidently chat to people around? Or happy in your own bubble watching and swaying along? Or will you feel awkward and lonely?

cryinglaughing · 24/05/2023 14:41

I have been to concerts on my own, it didn't spoil my enjoyment at all.

VoiceOfCommonSense · 24/05/2023 14:42

I saw him in Brisbane recently. I can’t recommend enough!!

JuneShitfield · 24/05/2023 14:44

Go. It's a terrific show (I saw him on this tour, albeit in the US). He's absolutely outstanding live and really puts the work in. His band are shit-hot as well.

And Elton's a bit of a one-off, isn't he. When he's gone there won't be anyone else like him.

UnctuousUnicorns · 24/05/2023 14:49

Of course, I've been to plenty of gigs on my own. I've seen my favourite singer eight times since last summer, either solo or with his band. Some of them I met up with other fans that I "knew" from SM, others I went to alone. I enjoyed them all equally. I'm focussing on whose on stage, not whose around me. Go and enjoy yourself! I've travelled all over the country in the past ten months; had a great time. 🙂

"Will you confidently chat to people around?"

Not during the gig, I hope!

Q2C4 · 24/05/2023 14:51

Absolutely! It will be too loud to have a conversation anyway. I've been to loads of gigs on my own & loved them!

Nutsabouttopic · 24/05/2023 15:45

Go!!! I saw him recently. I was with a friend but before he came on we talked to the people each side of us. Once he started there were only two very short breaks so there was no time for talking anyway. It's the final time you will see him

AutumnOcean · 24/05/2023 15:57

I've seen him twice, once on my own. Please go, you won't regret it.

hettiethehare · 24/05/2023 15:59

Go! I've been to gigs on my own before and its fine! I'd happily go and see Elton on my own (but unfortunately I need the kidney it would cost me to get a ticket).

Createausername1970 · 24/05/2023 16:01

I haven't been to gigs on my own, I usually go with people who want to see the same artist But I would rather go on my own, I think, than go with someone who is not bothered by the artist. Its not the going to gig on my own that would bother me, but the travelling back on my own afterwards. That is what I would have to mull over.

Choice4567 · 24/05/2023 16:03

Thought Elton John was offering you a private 1:1 concert and you weren’t sure about that!

waterlego · 24/05/2023 16:04

I would. I once saw Pulp on my own (husband didn’t want to go because we’d already seen them together earlier that same year and he doesn’t share my obsession with the band). I had a great time- except there was a bloke standing near me who seemed to think it was awful and sad that I was there on my own and so kept trying to talk to me and include me in his group, which I didn’t want as I was happily absorbed in the performance. Didn’t really want to move as I had a really good spot so had to just pretend I couldn’t hear him in the end. That marred the experience somewhat but I would definitely go to a gig alone again if the opportunity came up.

purplecorkheart · 24/05/2023 16:07

I saw him three times in the past few years, twice on my own and once with a friend. By far I enjoyed the concerts on my own. It is an incredible show, do not miss it.

Mochudubh · 24/05/2023 16:21

Well. this is your last chance to see him, I'd take it rather than regret not going.

RonObvious · 24/05/2023 16:23

My one regret in life is not going to see Nina Simone when she played in the town I was living in at that time, because I would have had to go alone. Definitely go.

Sanct · 24/05/2023 16:25

I saw his final tour four years ago. Sadly, he wasn’t as good as I’d hoped (perhaps to be expected), and the set list had some peculiar choices.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/05/2023 16:26

He's at the 02 next week and it looks like there are still tickets !

If I wasn't away on holiday I'd definitely be booking - really surprised there are tickets left !

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 24/05/2023 16:26

Yes! I was lucky enough to see him on this tour and it was an amazing show. Not my first time at Elton but probably my last and I'm glad I spent the money.

UnctuousUnicorns · 24/05/2023 17:21

"whose on stage, not whose around me"

Omg I meant "who's" of course! 😳

Bonjovispjs · 24/05/2023 17:39

I chickened out of seeing a singer I adore last year because I didn't want to go alone. Deeply regret it now, won't make that mistake again.
