Whats going on??

I'm in need of a rational answer because I'm quietly freaking out!

Last night I couldn't find my tv remote, looked everywhere, under cushions, looked under furniture, even lifted the furniture, looked in the fridge...literally looked everywhere at least 3 times, then found it under the sofa that was looked under and lifted previously.

Came home earlier today to find my tv box was dangling off the edge of the tv unit, it hadn't been on the edge and it hadn't been moved before I went out.

Now tonight, I was drying my hair when I knocked my hair serum off my dressing table, thought id get it after i'd dried my hair...no where to be found!

I've looked in every nook and cranny, in drawers, under bed covers, in shoes, under bed...every where you can think off, DBF has had a good look too

Whats going on? Rational explanation please???

Honestly we have had some weird ones lost game? Pray to Saint Anthony I decide to move the bed the game should never have been there it was nowhere near there last time it was played it was down the side of the bed lost tape measure found it propped between a table leg and the sofa no idea how I spotted it etc etc

It's like the prayer unlocks your mind

My guesses for this one are in a shoe or the laundry basket.
I lose things all the time but with DH, 4 kids, 2 cats and a scatterbrain I'm not sure I'd notice if we had a poltergeist 🤔

Hmmm, annoying. It is defo not where you usually have it? Ie did you pick it up subconsciously?
I’ve done that before - without realising - thought something is missing - and it’s been staring me in the face all along.

Definitely not.

I've just come back up and had another look.

I've picked up everything individual item on my dressing table, and in my hair/make up box

I've picked up each shoe and put my hand inside

I've opened every drawer and emptied it

I've looked under my bed. There's nothing under my bed, only shoes.

I've looked behind the dressing table, behind the mirror.

I've stripped my bed and remade it

I've gone through the laundry basket

I've done the same in the bathroom...just in case.

But I KNOW it fell off the dressing table, I saw it happen. I KNOW I didn't pick it up and put it somewhere.

I have carpet, and a rug (which I've looked under) it wouldn't have rolled that far.

I have a dog. Doubt he moved it. Don't think he was in the room at the time.

Can't rule out the remote and tv box wasn't him though

This happened to DS's only dummy! I searched everywhere.

In desperation I said out loud 'please put the dummy back' there it was placed right on the sofa which it was there before!

Say what you want but I know that wasn't there!

This has weirded me out.

This evening I was cooking. Prepped most of the veg, and put 3 carrots into the sink to wash.
Put the veg packets back into the fridge.

Went back to the sink - no carrots.
Looked all around the kitchen several times, and decided I had put the whole pack back in the fridge.
Got the carrots out of the fridge, and walked back to the sink.
The three bastard carrots had returned....

Thought I was losing my mind completely.

And this is the exact reason I've attached the remote control to the couch by a long bungee cord so I can always find it.

There's only so many spare remotes you can buy which also go missing before you realise this is the only way forward!

Laundry basket. Whenever I lose something, it's always in the laundry basket. But that's mainly due to my toddler...

2 thoughts:

first take something very similar in size and shape and weight and knock it off the table a few times and watch it to see which way it goes. I've done this with stuff before when i've dropped something small on a patterned surface to 'see what it looks like when it's down there or where it goes'.

Also - is it behind one of the legs of the bed or table or whatever. Between the leg and the skirting board. I find things squeeze themselves into the tightest hidey holes.

A last thing: my DH, when he was in his late teens, lost an expensive chunky gold necklace. He looked everywhere for it and so did his family. About a year later he was home alone - everyone else on holiday - he walked into the kitchen one morning mid week and the necklace was there curled perfectly like a snake right in the middle of one of the worktops ... no one else had a key to the house it was all locked up. Never found an explanation for that.

So, I came home expecting to see it just sitting there, on my dressing table....nope. Still not there.

Ive tried what a previous poster suggested and knocked something off the table the same sort of size, bounces, rolls a little, then stops on the edge of the rug!
