@Aslanplustwo I have parents and also had a grandparent alive during covid. 3 of my very close family members had to shield (2 in their 60s and my nan at 90).

If i was old, i cant imagine id change my tune. IMO, kids shouldnt be put at risk of long term MH issues because of elderly people...no way, no how.

You have no way of knowing until you actually are old. It might surprise you to know that most elderly people in reasonable health do not feel "old" inside.

Most of the kids I know coped well with covid - but then I don't live in the UK and we seem to have a bit more resilience here. I'm not denying some have MH issues, but they probably had them to start with. Maybe a bit less of parents whining about how terrible it all was would be good start.

It's not Covid or lockdowns. Everyone, everywhere dealt with that. The 'world' does not have the same feelings about it. Most people and places have bounced back or are doing so. A significant number are grieving someone they lost, or even lost jobs and businesses. Some are enjoying the opportunities it created (wfh, new business opportunities).

The UK, specifically, is suffering from Brexit and being very poorly governed. Brexit isn't a thing that happened and now it's over. It's an ongoing national disaster. Self-made.

Climate change.

War in Ukraine.

An unstable Russia and USA.

It is a time of great challenge and change, and the current leadership of the UK is in no way suited to leading us through. I hear nothing from Labour that gives me hope, either.
