Does anyone else? Just feels different in the world, I can’t put my finger on exactly what or how

I think it’s actually changed since Brexit and Trump got in. People feel validated in their intolerance and I know many people who now feel unsafe and unwelcome as a result.

Covid exacerbated things by increasing the sense of disconnect many people felt.

The current economic situation has increased general stress levels and the vast majority of us are feeling the pressure.

These are my thoughts and feelings too.

FuckYouEzekiel · 20/05/2023 19:46

People seem much more agitated with each other.

Sissynova · 20/05/2023 19:47

What strange thing do you think is happening? Sounds a bit conspiracy theorist to me.

Deadringer · 20/05/2023 19:48

The world keeps changing just as the earth keeps turning.

Parisj · 20/05/2023 19:51

Civilizations peak and decline, the world keeps turning but progress is lost and prosperity lessens. We are in a steep decline and I miss what we have lost.

WeAreTheHeroes · 20/05/2023 19:51

Things are back to normal I'd say. Except everything is more expensive here in the UK thanks to Brexit and the war in Ukraine. Colleagues are better at staying at home and not spreading illnesses these days. We're now allowed to work from home two days a week.

Energy of the world? Nah, twaddle.

TeenLifeMum · 20/05/2023 19:56

People seem less patient but it’s hard to look outside your own bubble. In my world my whole workplace has been turned upside down with a takeover and a year of uncertainty. Starting to find normality again. The older I get the less tolerant I am though.

TeenLifeMum · 20/05/2023 19:57

Not sure I have enough grasp of the wider world energy from my sleepy town in the south west of England!

NotQuiteUsual · 20/05/2023 19:59

Massive culture shift was forced upon us very quickly due to the Covid stuff. So yeah, things have changed. They were always going to, it just was much more noticeable this time. The world definitely has a different vibe post Covid.

SugarAndSpike · 20/05/2023 19:59

The world? The WHOLE world?

Being technical it could be a slight increase in temperature that has pushed the dial up on global warming. It's definitely had an impact on temperature, weather and natural disasters so that's changed.

ThisNameIsNotAvailable · 20/05/2023 19:30

I totally agree with the sentiment. For those saying ‘what’s energy’ and saying it’s woo I interpret this as meaning the general mood of society rather than mystical forces.

This is all true but much of it is down to lack of intelligence, people were more intelligent in the 90s, even early 00s, not many people read books or newspapers anymore and are unable to distinguish between reality and conspiracy. This was not the case in the past and it is quite a dangerous force when not addressed like the dangers the resulted in the storming of the Capitol!

Octomingo · 20/05/2023 20:05

Nope. Life goes so fast, I sometimes even forget the covid bits happened. To be fair, we moved house after lockdown 2, so that's kind of dominated our last 18 months.

knitpicky · 20/05/2023 20:06

Dacadactyl · 20/05/2023 19:11

I disagree. While I didn't enjoy the lockdowns, I don't understand the hysteria about them, things didn't massively change for us.

I disagree, and lockdown was unspeakably shit for me. It changed absolutely everything while it lasted, and still continues to affect my family now.

I still don't buy the Facebook-style "energy of the world has changed" knit-your-own yoghurt bollocks, though.

Wheredowegonobodyknows · 20/05/2023 20:10

@ThisNameIsNotAvailable Agree with all you’ve said, I didn’t take it as meaning if a woo type way either.
She said to me that people don’t seem truly happy now, and thinking about it, I agree. When I think back to pre covid, it seemed a different time, much more positive (there was always shit going on in the world) it just seems different now, it feels to me like that was an innocent time in so many ways, I don’t know.

yeah I agree, but it's not all bad.
Lots of small groups have been set up to go litter picking and sweeping glass from the local parks, plant flowers and stuff. People, I think, have recently discovered what Is important to them.

widowtwankywashroom · 20/05/2023 20:10

Everyone I know seems to be back to normal, working, socialising, getting on with life. My own My kids weren't affected by anything, my son who is 14 now says it was the best time of his life.

Wheredowegonobodyknows · 20/05/2023 20:10

@widowtwankywashroom Yes, I’m back to normal with my life and have been for quite a while now, but things do feel different to pre covid to me

Genuine question, but why is it still affecting you now? Health issues?

maddiemookins16mum · 20/05/2023 20:15

Nauseating FB quotes. Lockdowns ended 2 years ago, time to get on with things.

MissingMoominMamma · 20/05/2023 20:16

It has.

queenMab99 · 20/05/2023 20:17

It seemed to start before covid, with brexit and Donald Trump, 2015 /16, I thought it was just me because my husband died in 2015, and I kept thinking 'What would he have thought of this?' but then things just seemed to get stranger.

MsRosley · 20/05/2023 20:24

I agree with you too, OP. And it's only going to get stranger.

Regholdsworthswaterbed · 20/05/2023 20:25

widowtwankywashroom · 20/05/2023 19:35

Utter poppycock! The world is always changing!
Am I the only person who just goes to work and gets on with their life without being overly concerned over the worlds energy?
I really do wonder how some people would have lived through a bloody war!

I did think this during the pandemic. I actually said to DH if there was a war now we'd be absolutely fucked as there are so many feckless people about now!
