Does anyone else feel urgh on Sunday night! Ahead of another week of work!?

WordtoYoMumma · 14/05/2023 20:49

Yep. Sunday blues kick in about 4pm and I feel rubbish worrying about the week ahead.

C1239 · 14/05/2023 20:52

Is it mostly work that causes the feeling for you? It is for me!

Are you a teacher? I used to feel that way when I was a teacher but not anymore.

midsomermurderess · 14/05/2023 20:56

It's the long, dark tea-time of the soul.

drinkyourtea12 · 14/05/2023 20:57

I have it the whole of Sunday :(

Christmascracker0 · 14/05/2023 20:58

I’ve just had a cry about it! I just can’t cope with it! I want to phone in sick this week but I don’t have a line manager anymore and the only manager I would feel comfortable talking to is on holiday 😢

Anoana · 14/05/2023 20:59

I've got it tonight for the first time in years.

I'm gutted tbh. Thought those days were over.

HashBrownandBeans · 14/05/2023 21:00

I’ve always had it no matter where I’ve worked! I’m in a fairly new role, 6 months in, which I love, and I’m still dreading it

C1239 · 14/05/2023 21:02

It’s a strange feeling isn’t it, I wonder why it’s often worse on a Sunday compared to other evenings, I guess for a lot of us after having a two day break from work before going back to it

Multipleexclamationmarks · 14/05/2023 21:03

Yes.
It's most definitely work related. I hate Mondays, it's the most difficult day for me. Mounting dread starts around mid afternoon and gets worse.
I work in a school.

Veryverycalmnow · 14/05/2023 21:05

Always have this. Sunday night dread. Even when completely happy in a job. I start mourning the loss of the weekend on Sunday afternoons sometimes, which is ridiculous, but can't snap out of it!

Scalottia · 14/05/2023 21:07

I have this too. Strangely enough once I am at work on Monday, I am okay. I actually like my job but the feeling of dread on Sunday night sucks. I wish I didn't feel like this!

C1239 · 14/05/2023 21:08

Everyone who has it do you feel the same on Monday morning? How do you deal with it , just get up crack on to work and throw yourself into it?

Sunday, worst day of the week.

user1473878824 · 14/05/2023 21:14

I really like my job but I always get the Sunday Scaries. Currently feel panicky but for absolutely no reason - I’m working from home tomorrow which is always very easy and don’t have a particularly hard week. But j think it’s just thinking “right I have x, y, z to do. Must get up at birdshit o’clock every day, have I forgotten something, what if what if” and just feeling hugely blurgh. And then tomorrow I’ll just wake up tomorrow and it’ll all be fine. Hate it!

WordtoYoMumma · 14/05/2023 21:14

I hate Monday mornings. I wake up feeling sick and anxious. My job isn't even that bad but it is busy and different each week so Sunday nights my brain is just swimming with where I need to be in the coming week, which meetings I've got, ranking how bad each day might be in my head 🤣 why yes I AM an overthinker thanks so much for asking

CurlyhairedAssassin · 14/05/2023 21:15

Urgh yes. I’ve always had this to some extent. But today feels extra flat. I was out in Liverpool last night and the atmosphere was brilliant. There were no numpties, just everyone out for a good time. Weather was great. Etc etc. Today I have a hangover and the weather is shit and I’ve done nothing useful so feel guilty. Meh.

Allwelcone · 14/05/2023 21:15

Aah sympathy vibes to you...I get these too!

Generally the quality of the weekend has a bearing on how Sunday feels, if I've had a weekend I have chosen, I get a less horrible Sunday. If its been spent people pleasing then they're worse. So it could be a measure of whether you feel ypu have been fulfilled.

Work in general is massively triggering for my anxiety....obviously if its going badly then Sunday feels a lot worse but I do meditation techniques on Sunday and throughout the week.
Good luck fellow sufferers xx

YourUserNameMustBeAtLeast3Characters · 14/05/2023 21:18

DH always has a bad case of the Sundays. I did until I changed my job to one I actually enjoy.

My Dad used to say his favourite day of the week was Monday as it was the furthest from Monday.

Oysterbabe · 14/05/2023 21:20

I used to then I got a new job and don't any more.

Zanatdy · 14/05/2023 21:22

Yes especially so tonight as I’ve been working (at home) all weekend getting something done for a senior who selfishly requested it at 3pm on a Friday

JennyTheDonkey · 14/05/2023 21:26

I get this sometimes so try to have something nice to do planned for Sunday afternoon/evening like a cinema trip, specific movie at home, a swim, casual dinner somewhere.

Whu · 14/05/2023 21:30

I used to feel this when I was a classroom teacher. I imagine it’s worse this week after 2 bank holidays.
Honestly, it prompted me to make changes and I don’t have these feelings now. I know it can be much easier said than done but life is too short to feel this bad each week.

Seeleyboo · 14/05/2023 21:34

I developed the dread on a Saturday morning. It got so bad that I was eternally grateful for Covid. Having that time to reset. When I went back to work, I just couldn't cope, and the stress was so bad I encountered illness after illness. I decided to sell my car. Stop all my nail and hair treatments, etc, and gave up work. I worked out that once I took into account my fuel and car for work plus lunches and personal grooming this took half my wages. I figured I could live without the other half and become a SAHM. No bashing please on how I am now reliant on a man financially etc. I am well aware.
