In the cost of living crisis, things have increased in price, while value, quality and quantity has diminished...

So what do you think is worth buying, worth the investment in thew tough times items can be cheap or expensive, but must at least good quality...

For example m&s baked beans 50p a tin, cheap, but tastes better than more expensive brands.

Fairy washing up liquid is more expensive but lasts long and is overall better economy

There is no substitute for Yorkshire Gold in my opinion

Lindjam · 15/05/2023 16:47

I agree with PP re:

Estee Lauder double wear. I only need a tiny amount because the coverage is superb, even on my pot holed face.

Good quality Egyptian cotton bedding. It’s heaven. Like sleeping in clouds.

Arket and Cos t shirts. The quality is terrific.

Finally, M and S triple chocolate cookies. Heavenly.

Cacklebean eggs, good quality fruit from wholefoods or borough market or Natoora and generally just good quality unprocessed food that will keep you healthy.

A month for how many people? Our 55p Lidl one lasts a month for two of us, trying to work out if it's worth paying more.

Kerastase shampoo, conditioner and hair oil. The only products that sort out my dry floofy hair.

Savon de Marseille soap

Birkenstocks

Avene skincare

Mac make up

Maisemoo · 15/05/2023 19:19

Fairy liquid is a must

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 16/05/2023 01:43

For me it’s easing detergent’s etc. I love Lenor and I’ve tried cheaper brands but they don’t compare

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 16/05/2023 01:44

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 16/05/2023 01:47

My 27" iMac
Induction Hob
HJC Motorcycle helmet - you put a £50 head in a £50 helmet

longwayoff · 16/05/2023 09:21

Crosta e Mollica gelatos, 2 in a box, about £5. Cafe au lait or almond and pistachio. Sublime.

mysonsmother82 · 16/05/2023 09:22

Lurpack butter
Fairy washing up liquid
Organic eggs

zingally · 16/05/2023 10:17

Andrex Quilted loo roll.

whumpthereitis · 16/05/2023 10:50

I bought some l’occitane almond oil because of this thread.

for me, Kerastase shampoo, conditioner, and mask. I have thick hair, so the slightest bit of humidity and I look like Sideshow Bob. The Kerastase discipline range are the only products I’ve found that actually control it, and I’m not using an ungodly amount of conditioner every time I wash it.

Istrian olive oils.

Bordier butter.

Extraordinary foundation by ciate london. Not only go you get more product for your money (50ml instead of standard 30ml) you can buy it in so many shades and undertones. I have been complimented on my skin so many times wearing this foundation and it covers up my rosacea but makes my skin look glowing.

It says £28.00 online but I've never paid full price as they quite often do sales. The product lasts me about a year and I wear it every day so I buy two. You don't need a lot.

Have been looking at this but can't figure which shade I need... any tips please?

wolfmom · 16/05/2023 14:34

Best washing up liquid I've found (that doesn't cause a reaction) is Smol brand also their all purpose spray. Chocolate has to be galaxy or lindt

GoodVibesHere · 14/05/2023 17:52

This is one item I was so disappointed with. It doesn't seem to lather up well.

I thought the same as you initially. But, I don't use it as a shower gel. I use my usual shower gel then rub this on when my skin is wet and leave it on for a while before either air drying (I live a hot place) or towelling off. Leaves my skin really soft.

Jemimapuddleduk · 16/05/2023 20:42

Lurpack, persil, Yorkshire tea, hotel chocolat velvetiser hot chocolate, pampers baby wipes, guerlain perfumes, Neom hand wash, Ella and me bamboo pants, panache Clara bras, boden knickers for dd (proper big pants and last and last).

There’s a matching service on the website, helps find your shade!

SocksAndTheCity · 16/05/2023 21:18

Branston beans
Yorkshire tea
Longley Farm everything 😊
Proper butter
Lucocoa chocolate
Take The Day Off balm cleanser (I've tried the dupes)
Pureology shampoo and conditioner

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie The best towels I have ever owned (and I still own them) are Christy ones. I bought a set in the sale in 2014 when I redid my bathroom and they're still like new - they're somehow really thick and fluffy but also get you dry properly instead of just spreading the water around.
