About smoking?

Weed smokers have moved in next door. The stench is incredible and as an ex-smoker, I'm not keen on fags either which many of the people in my street constantly puff away on.

When I did smoke, I tried to be considerate and not do it much in public just indoors or around other smokers.

Shouldn't people have a right to clean air as smoking actively damages the lungs of people that don't? Is it a form of ABH?

Obviously the government have a vested interest in keeping the sales of tobacco, vapes (no one knows what damage the chemicals in these do) and anything else the tobacco industry sells as they make huge revenue out of it.

Is there a case to ban it in public places as more enlightened countries have done?

YABU - the 'rights' of smokers trump the need for non smokers to breathe less polluted air.
Or
YANBU - nobody has the right to actually harm your body by smoking around you and making public outdoor space a challenge.

you know there are locations in the world with these kinds of strict rules that would see to suit you better?

medical cannabis based medications have been a flop, as strangely enough removing the stuff politicians are scared of stops it working. The full spectrum oil, vape or smoke works better for many people.

lets also get rid of carcinogenic scented candles too, oh and what about stopping people from bbqing as well. oh and love island as it rots brains,

or you could do this novel thing like just concentrate on your own life and let other people concentrate on theirs

Smoking indoors is not "considerate" it stinks, and it remains stinking for far longer than smoke dissipating into the open air. Gets into furniture, clings to walls, leaves a film of sticky nicotine on walls and windows in particular. GRIM.

While smoking outside isn't pleasant, it isn't illegal, and smoke tends to dissipate much faster than it would in a confined space.

As for the clean air spiel, if you live in a town or bigger, you havent got it, and it's not because of the smokers.

Smoking cessation in all its forms are hardly puritanical beliefs. Obviously.

Sunak on about banning tobacco. It's a vote winner in his brain but the way it's being talked about is much too slow. It needs to be banned full stop. People are talking about it being a class thing (working class, must smoke)....

I'll be all up for it as soon as alcohol is banned.

Fine by me. The thing is, you don't miss what you don't know so all the people going on about how they enjoy it and don't care about the impact it has, wouldn't be up in arms if they'd never started so the obvious solution is not to sell it.

After reading an article about microplastics yesterday I can't get het up about smoking outdoors - we (as in humanity) have much bigger problems than a bit of fag smoke wafting at us.

Aren't vapes adding to that?
