So says Rylan Clark

He claims some people in the industry aren’t nice and polite, like they portray themselves to be and behind the scenes they treat people badly…that people are starting to see through it now and all will be revealed…

But Rylan isn’t very nice himself, very two faced!

Really? Is that from personal experience?

I've worked with rylan many times over the years. He has always been genuinely lovely to everyone. Makes a point of talking and engaging with people 'lower' than him.

I did a lot of cocaine with Claire Nasir at a party in Islington once, she was on GMTV at the time. She wasn’t all that nice. I think there’s a lot of coke and fakery in TV misses point of thread

Oh yes someone I know was in the same pub toilets as miss nice Willoughby and said she sounded like she had a bad cold in the cubicle.

That's my experience of Rylan too. I've always found him one of the most genuinely warm people I've met, celebrities or not.

Most people in the entertainment industry are lovely in my experience, due to work I have had contact in the past.

They are filming near me and all crew and actors are in camper vans or staying at the premier inn for a couple of weeks, really top names (as in have done Hollywood movies) and they were hanging out in the pub buying people drinks and chatting away, could have been any visitor, but were dishing the gossip out after a fewGrin best buy - they ordered pizza for everyone, in doesn't do food

Cool story

According to The Mirror there's going to be a massive shake-up. Including Martin Frizzell. I bet there's no phone ins for a while !

uncomfortablydumb53 · 17/05/2023 12:01

Just watched a bit now
Phil looks awkward and Holly looks more confident.

CaveMum · 17/05/2023 12:11

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I really recommend a couple of podcast interviews Rylan has done:

How To Fail with Elizabeth Day (came out a few weeks ago)

Grounded with Louis Theroux (BBC Sounds) which was recorded during Lockdown.

He comes across very well in both, self deprecating and acknowledging his responsibilities as someone in the public. Also fascinating to hear him talk about his father and how his half-siblings to this day don’t know he is related to them.

He’s also just launched his own BBC podcast called How to be a Man discussing masculinity with various men in the public eye (though I recommend skipping past the Freddie McConnell one!)

Mrsjayy · 17/05/2023 12:25

I have bbc2 on in the background it's parliament live or something. Anyway someone just called Angela Rayner and Keir starmer the H & P of parliament 😄

Brutal 😂

@CaveMum The Rylan interview on the OffMenu podcast was one of the funniest things I've ever listened to. He's an utter treasure and I adore him.

He's just such a lovely man who doesn't take anything for granted, will kindly join in on the jokes about him and he clearly adores his mum.

There are people lower than Rylan Clark? 🤔

He’s 6’4” so most people will be lower than him.

<misses point>

Bovrilla · 17/05/2023 17:13

I've got family "in the business" including knowing people who worked on TM.

Neither presenter is known for being particularly nice.

Most actors etc are perfectly nice normal people, it just happens that their job puts them on people's telly screens or cinema screens.

Heard some funny tales about A Listers just being a really good giggle. Some are knobs, usually not the real stars though.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve only recently discovered Off Menu so am working my way through old episodes but will seek out Rylan’s.

thebellagio · 17/05/2023 17:41

@CaveMum my husband literally yelled at me cos I was listening to it in the middle of the night cos of insomnia and I woke him up laughing.

I would also suggest listening to the nick mohammed and Taryn Egerton episodes. Both absolute gems

CaveMum · 17/05/2023 17:46

@thebellagio i listened to the Reese Shearsmith one the other day and was in hysterics. The weird mash-up they did with Brett Goldstein got me in to his podcast too!

Both on the sofa as normal tomorrow apparently.

"Normal" is doing some heavy lifting there . . .

Not my idea of normal either to be honest.

MrsKeats · 17/05/2023 20:37

A friend of mine knows and has worked with Rylan and says he's a really nice person.

Bluemuf · 17/05/2023 20:41

I think there's some snobbery about Rylan. His Essex accent, the teeth, the tan, the waybhe came to fame makes people who dont watch such low brow TV assume he's a talentless wannabe, but he's actually incredibly good at what he does and thoroughly decent with it

GellerYeller · 17/05/2023 21:38

I agree @Bluemuf. I’m not usually a fan of people from reality shows, but Rylan always seems genuine and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He can be really sincere and he came across really well on Ant and Dec when they pranked him. James Corden and Amanda Holden seemed to be dangerously close to losing it on theirs… He worked his way up and he’s great on the radio and Twitter. His live tweeting of his train journey recently was absolute class.

MrsKeats · 17/05/2023 20:37

Totally believable. His mum looks lovely too.

MouseMinge · 18/05/2023 02:51

I love James Acaster so should really listen to that podcast.

I find it odd when people insist that Rylan is very Poundshop. He's a decent presenter who gets a lot of work because he's good at what he does. You don't have to like him but to denigrate him like that reflects badly on the people putting him down.
