This morning?

Off work today and watching and it just seems tense and awkward and not right between Holly & Philip Schofield

Yes pip is very smug and there's no banter of fits of laughter between them like there used to. Hopefully he's gone by the summer.

They should both go. They are both guilty of stirring the pot

It was awkward as hell.

Philth is under a lot of pressure.

Let's hope he doesn't do a runner.

I love sleb gossip and these threads are a joy! I know lots of mumsnet look down on these threads (and make sure they come on to post to let us know how sad our lives are).

So I do not watch TM because I obvs have a very important job and daytime is beneath me! (Not really- I just have a job which means I do not watch daytime, but when Matthew Wright still did his show on 5 I used to record it and watch it later).

I am really old. This Morning with Richard and Judy was obviously peak TM. Yes Richard was an arse but Judy loved him, both were proper journalists-Judy probably more so and she was amazing at her job. They also had a regular team of credible people around then such as Dennise-I think Roberts, who was a lovely agony aunt? Dr Raj the psychiatrist, Susan Brooks who was the cook and I still remember her cooking with Boy George and him sneezing into a dish. It was just so different, there was an actually respect for the audience .

Then lovely Fearn Britton and John Leslie. Who knows if everything that was said about John Leslie was true, but Philip Schofield owes his career to his downfall. And then he threw Fearn under a bus! Before Holly and Phil, TM was a totally different show that treated day time viewers with a level of respect. I was a student and then worked shifts and Judy and Fearne in particular were pretty impressive when conducting more hard hitting interviews amongst the 'fluff'.

So whilst I consider myself someone who does not hold a grudge, I am prepared to admit this does not include Phil (talentless, protected and obviously knows where the bodies are buried at ITV) Schofield for what he did to Fearne. And also Aleshia Dixon, she is beautiful and got to host Eurovision but what happened to Arlene will never be okay.

He looks so strangely at her…I wonder what they’ve said to each other, must be so awkward. They were friends, now she wants to work alone…what kind of conversations are they having at work, it’s bizarre.

Who was Arlene?

Who was Arlene?

I literally don’t know what Phil did to any of those people?

Gothambutnotahamster · 18/05/2023 23:12

The BBC got rid of Arlene and replaced her with Alesha on Strictly. To be fair to Alesha, the BBC were going to get rid of Arlene anyway as they were (are!) ageist in their approach to women on TV, so if Alesha hadn't taken the job, someone else would have!

I'm with you though @willstarttomorrow - I love a bit of celeb gossip!

Oh, so what happened to Arlene (judge on strictly) was nothing to do with skofeld....

Gothambutnotahamster · 18/05/2023 23:19

I don't believe so @howdoesyourgardengrowinmay - I think the pp was just saying how she doesn't hold celebrity grudges but does when it comes to PS & also a little bit to Alesha because of Arlene (but I might have misunderstood!)

xoomer · 19/05/2023 06:48

I think they look as the usually do. Didn't notice any awkwardness.

That's just it though. I have watched it for several years (I record it and watch it when I am doing the dinner and fast forward anything I am not interested in).

They seemed to like each other until a few weeks ago when it got very frosty between them (although it was always Phil who seemed to dote on Holly, not the other way round. I think she just felt that she owed him for getting her the job).

Then this week, they are back to their chirpy selves and it all seems like an act. I think they they are made to become hyper just before the show and then told to carry on being chirpy thoughout.

But who knows, they could genuinly have made up, but I doubt it.

bemorelemmy · 19/05/2023 11:12

agree with everything you said @willstarttomorrow

Inkanta · 19/05/2023 11:15

So his brother gets a 12 year prison sentence today. He's a bad buggar!

HappiDaze · 19/05/2023 12:13

I really want him to go but of course he'll hold them to random saying they can't use what his brother did against him etc etc

HappiDaze · 19/05/2023 12:13

Ransom

MuckyPlucky · 19/05/2023 12:33

I wonder if the fall-out between PS & HW was anything to do with PS’s paedophile brother. Apparently the brother confessed to PS over a meal. I wouldn’t be surprised if PS then sat on that info, didn’t mention it to HW when all their families got together for hols & BBQ’s etc. I’d be pretty fucking fuming if my kids had been allowed to be unwittingly socialising with a paedophile.

MuckyPlucky · 19/05/2023 12:34

So I can imagine HW cut him off at that point, and PS is trying to bully her into keeping schtum about it, lest it get out in the press (his reputation would be hugely tarred by association, rightly so).

I'd guess this is exactly what it's about.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 19/05/2023 19:40

It’s not unwittingly, she’s known he was with MM for ages. MM worked on the show and is photographed and filmed with them a lot. The pedo brother was just the last straw I suppose, because ITV can’t deny that one.

And he's finally gone! I am surprised though as honestly thought he'd still brazen it out!

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 10/05/2023 12:25

There’s a whole world out there and yet you choose to waste your mornings watching that junk. Honestly

Yes, because no ever is exposed to TV through their job - carers, nurses, cleaners, engineers, pet sitters never ever see the TV while visiting a client's home...

Inkanta · 20/05/2023 16:12

Yep finally! Brother got 12 years on Friday. He'd told his bother to stop when the brother told him what he was up. Only 'stop'. Very weak. I suspect Phillip Schofield doesn't quite see how off the mark he was not being more pro active safeguarding the child. He had to be pushed to quit and I think he might have toughed it out if he could have done.

LadyRos · 20/05/2023 16:13

It’s a bit shocking, Phil always came across as nice, not that I met him in person I mean on tv, like James corden is meant to be horrible as well.
